An exclusive two day tour to a luxury vineyard in the highest altitude wine region in the world. Originally founded in 1831, Colome winery is set in stunning landscape in the heart of the Valles Calchaquies in Salta, at the end of a long winding dusty road. Your arrival is richly rewarded with a refreshing glass of Torrontes, the emblematic white wine of this area.  After a trip through the Parque Nacional de los Cardones and Los Colorados, luxuriate in the surroundings of this outstanding hotel. We will also visit the historic and picturesque towns of Molinos and Cachi. This trip is tailor-made to your tastes, in a private vehicle with an English-speaking driver/guide.

Itinerary

Day 1: Expedition to wine resort of Colome

Stop At: Cuesta del Obispo, RN33, Salta Argentina
From the Valle de Lerma, we travel up the winding mountain road of the Cuesta del Obispo, reaching a height of nearly 3,500m at the peak of the Piedra del Molino.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Parque Nacional Los Cardones, Cachi Argentina
The landscape changes completely from verdant green sub-tropical vegetation to the wide open desert plain of the Parque Nacional de los Cardones: peppered with candelabra cacti as far as the eye can see.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Los Colorados, Salta 4413 Argentina
We travel through the breath-taking deep red landscape of Los Colorados and from Molinos follow a rough mountain road, with outstanding views at every turn, to arrive at Colome, a superb vineyard set like a jewel in the hills of the Valles Calchaquies.

Stop At: Experiencia Colome, Ruta Provincial 53 km 20 Molinos 4419 Provincia de Salta, Argentina., Molinos 4400 Argentina
This is the highest altitude wine region in the world, famous for its Torrontes white wine and red varieties of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and the lesser known Tannat, perfectly designed for the Argentine asado (barbecue). Colome is also developing varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, Bonarda and Pinot Noir. After wine tasting we will visit the James Turrell museum, a stunning exploration of how light plays with and deceives human perception.

Day 2: Return from Colome via Cachi

Stop At: Iglesia San Pedro Nolasco de los Molinos, Calle Abraham Cornejo S/N, Molinos A4420AGA Argentina
we will have time in the nearby colonial town of Molinos, visiting the 17the century church and the hacienda which was the home of the last royalist governor under Spanish rule two centuries ago.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Calle Cacique J Calchaqui, Cachi A4417ASA Argentina
We will have lunch here and explore the mountain town of Cachi, with its picturesque cactus-roofed church before returning to Salta through the Parque Nacional de los Cardones.
