Galerias Pacifico is the fantasy name of a shopping center in Buenos Aires. It is located in the historic Pacific building, which was built in the nineteenth century in the heart of the city. In the center of the shopping one can find a series of famous murals made by some of the most prominent Argentine painters (Antonio Berni, Lino Spilimbergo, Juan Carlos Castagnino and Demetrio Urruchúa and Galician Manuel Colmeiro Guimarás), considered the most important manifestation of Argentine muralism. In the basement of the building, a clandestine detention and torture center used to operate during the last military dictatorship.
