Gobustan & Mud volcanoes tour

It is an excursion to Gobustan National Museum, about 40 miles (64 km) south-west of the center of Baku. Which is located on the west bank of the Caspian Sea. Gobustan is assumed one of the cradles of civilization, as ancient petroglyphs have been identified as belonging to the 12-8th century B.C.

In 2007 UNESCO World Heritage Site declared Gobustan considered to be of “outstanding universal value” for its rock art engravings. So collection of rock art images presents for hunting, fauna, flora and lifestyles in pre-historic times. And for the cultural continuity between prehistoric and medieval times.

Stop At: Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Preserve Museum, Baku, Azerbaijan

Gobustan National Park officially Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape is a hill and mountain site occupying the southeast end of the Greater Caucasus mountain ridge. It is located west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Baku city centre on the west bank of the Caspian Sea.

Stop At: Mud Volcanoes, Dasgil Hill, Qobustan 3700 Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has the highest number of mud volcanoes in the world. These tend to form on fields rich in oil and gas.

The area of the volcanoes resembles a lunar landscape with craters. It's an interesting spectacle, with gurgling sounds, and mud splashing up from time to time.

The mud is used in the production of cosmetics and medical products, and is said to be healthy for your skin. While we can't vouch for the medical benefits, it's always good fun to smear some mud on your face.

Stop At: Bibi-Heybat Mosque, Baku Azerbaijan

The Bibi-Heybat Mosque is a historical mosque in Baku, Azerbaijan. The existing structure, built in the 1990s, is a recreation of the mosque with the same name built in the 13th century by Shirvanshah Farrukhzad II Ibn Ahsitan II, which was completely destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936.
