Kaa Iya National Park - Jaguar Tour

The tour commences at the city of Santa Cruz, at 8H00 in a car. The first part of the trip takes you about 4 hours on a paved road to  the town of San Jose de Chiquitos.   Kaa Iya National park is 90 km on a dirt road from San Jose de Chiquitos.

Once in the national park there are only two dirt roads and the trails in the forest are only  a few.

The activities  to  try to see wildlife are mainly trekking on one of the roads and some times we have to walk or ride  in the car  on the same area on different hours to improve the chances of seeing a wild jaguar, tapirs  or others bigs cats

Kaa Iya National park is an off the beaten tracks destination,  so you may not have another group of visitors. and the wild animals are not fed by humans. 

For now the accommodations is only in tents. We may have access to toilets  near the park rangers' house.

On the first  day we should be arriving  at the camping site at Kaa Iya National park at about 17H. On this day of arrival we have the chance of having a trekking of  2 or 3 hour. It is a good time to try to see a jaguar.  After this first trekking  we get back to the camping site to set up the tents and to have dinner and to get ready for the night-walk. Also on this night  is probable to go around in the vehicle, It will depends on the weather conditions,  how we feel and on what is the best to have more chances to see  wildlife .

Next day start very early, I could be at 4H00 in the morning. We may have to take the breakfast with us or  we have  breakfast on our way back to the camping site.  This part of the excursion may take 2, 3 or more hours  it depends  on how it evolves. Always take with your enough water, hat and repellent and whatever you think may need. The sun in this part of Bolivia called Chaco could get vey hot.  The insects  could be a night mare if your not protected or used to it.

During this day we are going to have 2 more excursion one in the afternoon and another at night.

On the last day in the park we also need to  get  the best chances to see a jaguar  on this day, So again we need to get up very early ant to try  a different  areas.  

On this day we are going  to have lunch at San Jose de Chiquitos on our way back to Santa Cruz city
