The Moai Roads: Half Day Private Tour is an archaeological field trip based on scientific, ethnographic and historical evidence suplemented by a deep knowledge of our oral tradition. This tour is also customizable depending on our travelers' special interests.

RPS Experiences is the tourism wing of the Rapanui Pioneers Society, a research and educational organization formed by thoroughly experienced members. Our guides are scholars or local experts with a vast trajectory working in tourism and experience with some of the top companies in Rapa Nui and abroad.

Our slow tours go against the fast-paced group tours to make sure that our Rapanui culture is well represented. We visit the sites during the hours of best light and avoiding (as much as possible) the busy hours, and we take our time on each site to experience them fully.

Itinerary

Stop At: Rano Raraku, Easter Island Chile

The field trip begins at the Rano Raraku national park area with a visit to the quarries that were used to carve hundreds of moai.

The visit is completed by going into the crater that contains a small wetland with bulrushes and even more moai to be seen in the distance.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Rapa Nui National Park, Easter Island Chile

After exploring the quarry we take the Southwestern Moai Road where we can find many statues laying down along the way, giving us clues about the possible transportation methods.

After passing by Maunga Toatoa, we reach the last moai of the road, called A Nenga-Nenga.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Hanga Te Tenga, Easter Island Chile

To finish the excursion we reach the monumental Ahu Tētenga, with remains of three statues. It was turned into a gigantic mass grave in historical times.
