Temples and landscapes in Tibet 5 days

This is a trip which allows you to visit most of the temples and monasteries in central Tibet. You'll travel in a clockwise loop, so you don't repeat ways. You starts in Lhasa by visiting the important temples and palaces, then you will travel to Gyantse via the beautiful Yamdrok lake. You will spend one night in city of Shigatse in a comfortable hotel, and explore the Tashilunpo monastery next day, it is the seat of Penchen Lama. On the last day of the sightseeing, you will be driven back to Lhasa along the stunning Yalung River.

Day 01: Pick up from Lhasa airport, transfer to hotel. Rest and acclimate to the high altitude.

Day 02: Today after breakfast we'll pick you up from your hotel lobby around 9am, head to the center of the city and visit

Potala

Palace, the 13-storeyed edifice was among the world’s tallest buildings prior to the advent of the 20th century skyscraper, and the grandest building in Tibet. In terms of global perception, it is this relic of Tibet’s past, present, and future national aspirations, more than any other, which uniquely symbolizes Tibet, like the Great Wall in China or the Vatican in Italy. After the visit we will go east to the

Barkhor

market, by the heart of the old town of Lhasa, visit

Jokhang

Temple, which is Tibet’s most sacred shrine, the focal point of pilgrims from the entire Tibetan plateau. After lunch time, we will head north of the city about 10 minutes to

Sera

Monastery, located at the base of Mt. Purbuchok, which forms part of the watershed between the kyi-chu and the penpo-chu rivers, the Monastery is found in 1419, watch the

Tantric

debate performed by the Sera monks.

Day 03: Today we will leave the hotel around 8am drive to

Yamdrok

Lake about 110 kilometers, the sacred lake (4408 meters) is revered as a talisman, supporting the life-spirit of the Tibetan nation. The visitors from Lhasa and Tsedang will enjoy the unforgettable vista of its pincer-shaped expanse of turquoise water.  We will continue drive west about 180 kilometers to Town of

Gyantse, the town has preserved much of its old-world atmosphere, and Tibetan rural life continues here, virtually unchanged, against a back drop of magnificent 14-15th century fortresses and temples.  First we will visit

Shigatse (91 kilometers), commanding the confluence of the Nyang-chu and Brahmaputra rivers, is still Tibet’s second largest city.

Day 04: After breakfast we will leave hotel around 9:30am and drive to

Tashilunpo

monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lamas, was founded in 1447 by The Dalai Lama I. One of Tibet’s most influential monasteries. After the visit we will drive back to Lhasa from the northern road along the

Yarlung

River.
