Additional information

The Simien Mountain Massif is one of the major highlands of Africa, rising to the highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Dejen (4620m), which is the fourth highest peak in the continent. Although in Africa and not too far from the equator, snow and ice appear on the highest points and night temperatures often fall below zero. The park has three general botanical regions. The lower slopes have been cultivated and grazed, while the alpine regions (up to 3600m) were forested, although much has now disappeared.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day1: Gondar - Sankaber

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
We will meet you in the morning at Gonder Airport or your hotel in Gonder. Drive from Gonder to Sankaber camp. You can pass over the first camp site called Buit Ras. Spend a night at Sankaber camp site. You could visit some viewpoints and endemic species. Overnight camping

Day 2: Day2: Sankaber - Geech

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
Walk from Sankaber to Geech. Five to Six hours walk. You could see many fascinating things including the big waterfall, river, birds, different plants, species and so on (Gelada baboons of course!). Spend the second night at Geech site. Overnight Camping

Day 3: Day3: Geech - Imet gogo

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
Walk from Geech to the three stanning places namely Imet Gogo, Saha, and Kedadit and then walk back to Geech camp, overnight camping

Day 4: Day4: Geech - Ambaras

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
Walk from Geech to a place called Ambaras; it takes about two hours to get to the main road and that is a place where we meet the driver with the jeep. Then as soon as you arrive in Ambaras you will start driving to Gonder via Debark, about five hours driving!
