If you are looking for a short safari experience with a focus on wildlife near Addis Ababa, Awash National Park is for you. One of the oldest and largest parks in the Country, Awash is known for its abundant wildlife, bird watching activity and its beautiful landscapes.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Drive from Addis to Awash National Park (about 3-4 hours drive)
A short game drive to see the local wildlife, such as oryx, baboons, colubus monkeys, kudus, warthogs and gazelles
You could be lucky to see leopards, lions and other cats. The landscapes in the park are beautiful, looking over the Awash Gorge
Overnight stay at Awash National Park (lodging or camping)
Visit more of the Park at sunrise when it is at its best. If you are into birdwatching, the Park is one of the best sites in the Country with over 500 bird species including the Arabian bustard, African swallow-tailed kite, northern carmine bee-eater, Abyssinian roller and the endemic yellow-throated serin and near-endemic rock chat
Permitting time, you can stop by the popular resort of Sodere for a therapeutic shower in its hot springs
Drive back to Addis Ababa
