Harar was established by Sultan Abu Beker Mohammed in 1520. Harar, the Holy City of Ethiopia's Muslim community, is believed to be the forth-holiest city after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. The old City Wall of Harar is the main attraction and symbol of Islamic architecture. Harar has approximately 90 mosques, which form the largest concentration of mosques in the world. One of Harar's main attractions is the hyena man who feeds hyenas on the outskirts of the town every night.

Itinerary

Day 1: Addis Ababa

Stop At: Entoto Hill, Addis Ababa Ethiopia
You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Refresh and begin your sightseeing of Addis with a drive up to mount Entoto for a panoramic view of Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Capital.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: National Museum of Ethiopia, King George VI Street, Addis Ababa Ethiopia
Descend down and drive to National museum where you will have a chance to spot the oldest hominids of ‘Lucy’ fossil.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Holy Trinity Cathedral, Aratkilo area Addis, Addis Ababa 123 Ethiopia
Visit and proceed to the Holy Trinity built during the WWII. Then proceed to Ethnographic museum, which use to be the palace of Emperor Hailesellase.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Addis Mercato, Kenya St Addis Ketema, Addis Ababa Ethiopia
To wrap up you drive to merkato, the biggest market in East Africa.

Day 2: Addis - Diredewa - Harar

Stop At: Jegol, Harar, Ethiopia
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Dire Dawa where you will be met upon arrival and drive to Harar. The sightseeing of Harar will include the market, the French poet –Rimbaud house and the tomb of Emir Nur who built the Harar walls known Jegol. Its architecture reflects a strong Islamic influence.

Harar is a labyrinth of small streets surrounded by old city walls is the fourth holiest city for the Muslim people next to Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. Tonight we will attain the hyena-man show.

Day 3: Harar - Diredewa - Addis Ababa

Stop At: Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa
This day you will drive to Dire Dawa passing through Aweday chat market. Up on arrival in Dire Dawa you will catch your flight back to Addis. Be met upon arrival and transfer to your hotel for day use. In the evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
