Nechisar National Park is one of Ethiopia’s last great surviving wildernesses spanning the narrow yet mountainous ‘Bridge of God’ that separates Lakes Chamo and Abaya. It ranks among the most scenic national parks in East Africa. There’s an air of untamed grandeur that lingers over the lakes and mountains which makes this undiscovered trekking route a must see for nature, bird and animal lovers. You will hike through diverse habitats ranging from thick bush, rain forest, natural springs, acacia woodland, two Rift Valley Lakes to wide-open Savannah. Each terrain offers different wildlife including baboons, Columbus monkeys, surviving herds of Swaynes’s hartebeast, zebras, Grant gazelles, crocodiles, hippopotamus and 350 different bird species. Itinerary

Day 1: Trek through the rainforest to Lake Chamo

Stop At: Nechisar National Park, From Arba Minch 32km, Arba Minch Ethiopia
You will trek through the ancient rainforest and on the way see natural wildlife and birds including Columbus monkeys and baboons.
Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Chamo Lake, Arba Minch Ethiopia
You will camp next to Lake Chamo where you will enjoy the daily routines of fisherman, Nile giant crocodiles, hippopotamus and birds.
Duration: 12 hours

Day 2: Trek across the Bridge of God to Lake Abaya and the Savannah

Stop At: Nechisar National Park, From Arba Minch 32km, Arba Minch Ethiopia
Trek across the natural mountain between the two Rift Valley lakes known as the Bridge of God. You will have stunning views of Lake Chamo and Abay. Your destination is next to Lake Abaya on the Savannah.

Day 3: Trekking the Savannah

Stop At: Nechisar National Park, From Arba Minch 32km, Arba Minch Ethiopia
Spend the day trekking on the Savannah visiting the natural habitats of zebras, gazelles, kudus and seeing up to 350 different bird species
Duration: 1 day

Day 4: Trek to water hole and hot springs

You will take an early morning trek to a water hole to see Zebras, Kudus and other animals drinking. Afterwards you will walk to a natural hot spring to take a soothing bath before trekking across the Savannah
