Famous architectural masterpieces were created there during Perikles’ Golden Age, like Parthenon.Athens is hosting several museums, monuments and cultural institutions, as a result of being one of the world’s oldest cities . It was also the host city of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and also in 2004. Combining the old with the modern, Athens has been charming visitors from all over the world.

Its construction lasted several centuries, from 510 BC to 131 AD and it is one of the greatest ancient temples of Zeus as well as one of the most famous marble buildings ever erected in the ancient world. There were originally 104 gigantic Corinthian columns 16 of which remain standing today, with one of them lying on the ground.
