BMW Motorcycle Tour - Ioannina – Zagorohoria – Valia Calda

Six day unguided motorcycle tour that will lead you to some amazing sites in Greece. We will meet and greet you in our head offices were you will get acquainted with your BMW rental motorbike. We will do a short briefing on the tour, the itinerary and then you will take off for the moto tour. All destinations and points of interest will be uploaded to the GPS that comes with the motorcycle.

Itinerary

Day 1: Athens to Ioannina via Lake Ziros and Roman Aqueduct

Stop At: Ziros Lake, Ethniki Odos Artas - Ioanninon 2km West of Eparchiakis Odos Artas - Filippiadas - Ioaninnon, Pedopoli Zirou 482 00 Greece
A wonderful lake in the outskirts of Fillipiada. Relax and enjoy a beverage in this wonderful landscape.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Roman Aqueduct of Nikopolis, Ethniki Odou Artas - Ioanninon, Filippiada 482 00 Greece
On the north side of the valley of Louros, close to Agios Georgios village, north of Filippiada, the roman aqueduct of ancient Nikopolis dominates. The Roman Aqueduct travels a distance of around 50km, leaving its mark to Rizovouni, Thesprotiko, Stefani, Skala Louros, Sfinoto, Oropos, Archaggelos – Nea Sinopi and Nikopoli. The roman aqueduct was constructed after the foundation of Nikopolis by Octavian Augustus (1st century BC – 1st century AD) according to the prevailing view, while younger researchers consider possible that the construction was made in the years of Adrianos (2nd century AD). Julian the Emperor took care of it, but after the half of the 5th century AD it stopped functioning.
The aqueduct is consisted of a pipe that carried the water with the method of height difference from Louros sources to the two tanks of Nymphaeo and Nikopolis.

Day 2: Ioannina city and surrounding area

Stop At: Ioannina, Ioannina, Ioannina Region, Epirus
Ioannina, the capital of Epirus, spreads out around the imposing Lake Pamvotida. Its still waters and the nameless small island, create a wonderful collage of colors around which the entire area lives and breathes. Ioannina was always multicultural, dominated mainly by Christian, Islamic and Jewish influences. This coexistence of cultural influences is clearly evident in the historic city center. Wonderful buildings like the House Matei Hussein, the Ottoman mosque of Veli Pasha and the entire historic centre of the town are unique attractions.

Stop At: Perama Cave, Perama 45221 Greece
You will meet the picturesque village Perama
only four kilometres from Ioannina on the road
that goes from Metsovo to Trikala. A mythical
world beyond your imagination waits for you
there to discover it. The Cave of Perama was
created 1.500.000 years ago in the interior of
Goritsa hill, exactly above the village. It was
discovered by residents of Perama in 1940
and speleologists Anna and Ioannis Petrohilos
started exploring it in 1956. This real
ornament is known for the variety of stalactites
and stalagmites that are found there and it
is included in the best caves in the world.
The temperature in the interior is maintained
constant in 17 οC, while the temperature of
the water is 14 οC. You will meet a lot of
rooms with particularly rich decor on the way
whose length is about 1.500 metres.

Stop At: Vrellis Greek History Museum (Wax Museum), Mpizani 455 00, Greece
The Pavlos Vrellis Greek History Museumis a privately owned wax museum in Ioannina regional unit, Greece. It was set up by the sculptor Pavlos Vrellis in February 1983, and is the best known wax museum in Greece.The museum hosts 150 wax models in 37 themes, inspired by various events from Greek history.

Day 3: Zagorohoria

Stop At: Zagorohoria, Zagorohoria, Ioannina Region, Epirus
A land where natural beauty exceeds imagination. Zagorohoria are considered to be some of the best-preserved villages in Greece. This motorcycle tour will guide you through some of the most popular and scenic of them. The cosmopolitan Aristi, the mysterious Papiggo, the scenic Kipi with the famous stone bridges, the serene Monodendri and the enigmatic Vovousa are just some small examples of the places that you will visit.

Day 4: Valia Calda

Stop At: Vovousa, Vovousa, Ioannina Region, Epirus
You will tour through the Valia Calda or “Warm valley” considered to be one of the most attractive destinations in Europe! You will admire the high, impressive mountain ranges, the densely forested slopes and the amazing natural landscapes. The entire motorcycle tour is a truly magnificent unspoiled paradise that will definitely heighten your senses and leave you craving for more!

Day 5: Metsovo

Stop At: Metsovo, Metsovo, Ioannina Region, Epirus
This tree-shaded village, retaining its traditional character, dots the mountain side below Katara Col in the Mountain Range of Pindos. Metsovo is full of life throughout the year generously offering you its natural surrounding beauties. Particularly during winter, the famous vlach village, birthplace of various national benefactors (Tositsas, Stournaras, Averof etc.), is Epirus’ beloved tourist destination.

Day 6: Meteora to Athens

Stop At: Meteora, Kastraki, Kalambaka 422 00 Greece
Meteora (UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988) are built on the north-western edge of the Plain of Thessaly. Meteora is a complex of monasteries built 400 meters above the ground on massive stone pillars. It is one of Christianity’s holiest places and attracts thousands of visitors year after year. The visitors get mesmerized by the size of the rock formations as well as the spectacular beauty and serenity originating from the Monasteries for those who seek spiritual enlightenment.
