Cape Sounion tour starts from Athens ( your Hotel/ Apartment or Piraeus Port) for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Aegean sea. Passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs as Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza. In the heart of the Athenian Riviera, is the hidden treasure of Attica’s nature.
Lake Vouliagmeni situated on an idyllic landscape, this rare geological phenomenon is waiting to be discovered. We will stop at the picturesque lake of Vouliagmeni and you will have time to swim (optional). The lake’s brackish waters ( temperature is 24 C all year around) which are continuously replenished both by the sea and the underground thermal springs offer a natural and unique thermal spa experience. We will continue drive on a scenic coastal road all the way to Cape Sounion. There you will visit the 5th century B.C. temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). Poseidon Temple with Doric columns of local marble have 16 fluting's instead of the usual 34. The precipice is a sheer 197 meters drop to the sea. Close by are also the remains of Athena Souniada.

Today the Greeks still come and pay homage to the divine nature of the Cape. As famous Travelers in past, like Lord Byron visit the Temple and put their signature on the marble columns. The magnificent scenery, words cannot describe it. You have to see it and don't miss (if time allowed) one of the most breathtaking panoramic sunset views in the world while having a swim or a drink at the bay below

Continue to Lavrion port, a traditional town, known from classical times for their silver mines. Have lunch or diner of a variety of sea food in front water.
