Stop At: Festetics Palace, Kastely utca 1, Keszthely 8360 Hungary

Festetics palace is a truly unique place. It gives us a good insight about the history of the people and this region. If you haven't seen this place with all it's facilities, this is a MUST. Even if you did see the place I'm sure, that with my knowledge of the place you are going to see it in a completely new perspective. 12 EUR for Adult & 6 EUR for youth (up to 26).

Stop At: Balaton Museum, Keszthely, Múzeum u. 2, 8360 Hungary

Before we are going to go more into the nature to explore, I'm going to show you all the archeological finds from this region. After this we are going to go to the places where these finds were discovered to see some more remains.

Admission 3 EUR / person .

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Fenékpuszta ringing and Bird Rescue Station, Keszthely, 8360 Hungary

After gathering the theoretical knowledge, we go and see some roman ruins where we can understand the how life was back in those times.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Star Castle Museum, north of Lake Balaton, Balatonszentgyorgy Hungary

We are going to a very unique place where you can see a very special castle, which is also a farm and also an interactive museum. Here you can see the history of the medieval Hungarian Hussars and their great battle against the Turkish forces. We also grab some snack to give us some energy for our further travels.

Admission is 4 EUR/ person (kids free)

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Party Csóka Étterem és Kávézó, Balatongyörök, 8313,, Strand u., 8315 Hungary

After a long day of exploring, we deserve to eat the finest meal the region has to offer (accompanied with quality local wines of course). Don't be afraid, quality does not come with a high price.

Aside from the magnificent views, we'll have time to reflect on the day.

Stop At: Sumeg Castle, Varkert, Sumeg 8330 Hungary

Depending on the actual date, we might visit Sümeg castle to see historical re-enactments of medieval battles set in a truly authentic setting. However sadly this is not available every single day, so we have to plan ahead. Or as an option B we can stroll around in Sümeg castle which is one of the biggest intact castles of the region. Or we could even decide to explore other castles in the region (there are plenty, and I know the history and story for each of them.)
