The shortest cable car in the world, the Zagreb funicular is an absolute delight. For over 120 years it has been transporting the citizens of Zagreb and its guests between the Upper and Lower Towns.

The lower station is located on Tomićeva Street, while the other station is located at the base of Lotršćak Tower.

It was opened in 1890 after just 2 years from getting the building permit.

Whatever the circumstances of a broken heart, lovesick folks the world over may draw comfort from the Museum of Broken Relationships: the brainchild of two star-crossed Croatian lovers, Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić.

After their own love affair ended, the estranged couple began collecting the relics of other failed relationships. Everyday objects like watches, high-heeled shoes, and cigarette lighters were anonymously donated by local Zagreb residents, and in 2010 the first Museum of Broken Relationships opened for business.

The Zagreb City Museum was founded by the Brethren of the Croatian Dragon Society in 1907.

In the ninetieth year of its existence, 1997, the Museum opened what was only its sixth permanent exhibition, for the first time in restored and appropriate premises, making use of the state of the art in contemporary museum technology.

The exhibition shows the past of the City of Zagreb, from prehistory, traces of which were recently uncovered under the very building of the museum itself, to the present day.

Day 3: : Zagreb - Plitvice Lakes- Zadar

Day 4: Zadar - Krka National Park - Split

The national park is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. The purpose of the park is primarily to serve science, culture, education and recreation, while tourism activities have also been introduced for its visitors.

Including the submerged part of the river at the mouth, the Krka River is 72.5 km long, making it the 22nd longest river in Croatia. It springs in the foothills of the Dinara mountain range, 2.5 km northeast of Knin. With its seven waterfalls and a total drop in altitude of 242 m, the Krka is a natural and karst phenomenon. The travertine waterfalls of the Krka River are the fundamental phenomenon of this river

Considered to be one of the most imposing Roman ruins, Diocletian’s palace is certainly the main attraction of the city of Split, Croatia.

These ruins are some of the most valuable surviving buildings of the Roman era on the Adriatic coast.

Emperor Diocletian, who voluntarily gave up the throne of the Roman Empire, in the turn of the 4th century CE built the palace and after his retirement on May1, 305 settled here, on the beach, in the Illyrian province of Rome. The whole complex occupied around 30,000 square meters. Today these ruins lie in the heart of the city of Split in Croatia.

Day 5: Split - Mostar - Dubrovnik

Stop At: Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar, Stari Most, Mostar Bosnia and Herzegovina
The bridge, a masterpiece of Ottoman Turkish architecture, was commissioned by none other then Suleiman the Magnificent, and designed by Mimar Hayruddin, a student of the famous Mimar Sinan. The construction began in 1557 and took nine years to complete. Elegant in its simplicity, the bridge consists of a single 30-meter-wide and 24-meter-high arc, connecting the steep riverbanks of Neretva river. Two towers protect the entrances to the bridge. These massive stone structures stand in sharp contrast to the streamlined silhouette of the bridge, only emphasizing its beauty.

The surrounding city of Mostar even owes its name to the bridge, “most” meaning bridge in Serbo-Croatian.

Stop At: The Franciscan Church and Monastery, 4 Poljana Paska Milicevica, Dubrovnik 20000 Croatia
Construction of the monastery began in 1317 in a transitional Romanesque-Gothic style. Alas. That old church was destroyed in Dubrovnik's devastating earthquake of 1667. All that remains of that structure is late-Gothic south portal with its striking Pietà, sculpted by the local masters Petar and Leonard Andrijic.

he main entrance to Old Town, busy Pile Gate used to have a wooden drawbridge which used to be pulled up at night to prevent unwelcome guests entering the medieval, walled city. The drawbridge was replaced by stoned one long time ago so nowadays, the beautiful stone bridge eads across the small green passage thought the Gate to the Old town and down the steps to Stradun, the Town’s main promenade.
