The Chittor Fort or Chittorgarh is one of the largest forts in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort was the capital of Mewar and is located in the present-day town of Chittor. It sprawls over a hill 180 m in height spread over an area of 280 ha above the plains of the valley drained by the Berach River.

Stop At: Padmini's Palace, Near Lotus Pool Near Rana Kumbha Palace and Lotus Pond, Chittaurgarh 312001 India

This three storied white building was built in the 19th century, and is located in the southern part of the fort. Located amidst water bodies, this is the place where Aladdin was permitted to see the mirror image of Rani Padmini, wife of Maharana Rattan Singh. It is widely believeds that Aladdin was besotted by the beauty of Padmini and the desire to win her led convinced him to destroy Chittor. In the battle that ensued, Maharana Rattan Singh was killed and Rani Padmini committed Jauhar. Rani Padmini's beauty is compared to that of Cleopatra and her life story is an eternal legend in the history of Chittor.

The Vijaya Stambha is an imposing victory monument located within Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. The tower was constructed by the Mewar king, Rana Kumbha, in 1448 to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji. The tower is dedicated to Vishnu.

Kirti Stambha of Chittorgarh is a 22-meter-tall tower built by a Jain Merchant (Jijaji Rathod) in 12th century. The main purpose behind its commission was to glorify Jainism. It is also known as the Tower of Fame and is located inside the Chittorgarh Fort Complex. The tower is dedicated to the first Thirthankara, Sri Adinath. Figures of Thirthankaras indicate that it belongs to Diganmbara sect. Jain SaintÂ’s figures are neatly carved on the Stambha, adding to more charm are columned balconies and latticed arches. At the top is an observation hall which can be reached through a narrow flight of stairs; visitors are awarded with a splendid view of the vicinity. Many Jain followers consider Kirti Stambh a major pilgrimage centre.

Stop At: Fateh Praksah Palace Museum, Chittaurgarh Fort Village Chittorgarh Fort Village, Chittaurgarh 312001 India

The palace is studded with numerous corridors and pillars built in Rajasthani style. It is beautifully decorated with wall paintings showcasing legends from Rajasthan belonging to the 17th. and 19th.centuries. In 1968, a large portion of Fateh Prakash Palace was converted into a museum.

During the rule of Rana Kumbha, the Meera Bai temple was built. He had constructed many other Hindu temples of which this one is the most eminent of all. Meera was a Rajput princess who was madly in love with Lord Krishna and had committed her whole life to Lord Krishna. This shrine had been mainly built so that Meera could worship Lord Krishna in Chittorgarh.
