Wake before dawn to catch the sensational sunrise over the awe-
inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site of Borobudur.

After a short drive, start the walk up Punthuk Setumbu, a hill located about four kilometres from Borobudur Temple. The Buddhist monument of Borobudur was built by hand centuries ago. The views of Borobudur, the surrounding plains, the twin volcanic mountains of Merbabu and Merapi, and the Menoreh Hills are unforgettable as the sun rises.

After the sunrise, take a leisurely bicycle ride through the villages of Borobudur. Meet the local people en route and students going to school. Visit a traditional market and cycle through the paddy fields with Borobudur Temple in the distance.

At Klipoh village, stop to see the pottery making process, to see tofu-making and batik painting and to sample local snacks.

Cycle a little further to where a vehicle will take you back to the hotel, or if feeling energetic continue the whole way back by bicycle.
