Experience the Art of Life in Rural Baluk Village

Inspired Village Adventures provide conscious travelers with an invaluable opportunity to venture far beyond the beaten paths of Bali, to discover the local rural village life, and to be inspired by the beauty and creativity of Balinese culture. These adventures also support and incentivize local communities to keep and maintain their ancestral lands and sustainable way of living.

We will learn about sustainable agriculture and rural Innovation by traveling to the homes of farmers, fishermen,and villagers in remote parts of West Bali to meet with farmers and learn how they care for their crops. Through this experience, we hope to be more connected with rural communities of Bali, the agrarian way of life in Bali, and our relationship between our physical and spiritual selves and Mother Nature.

Itinerary

The History of Barong
The barong is a lion-like creature in Balinese mythology representing goodness and benevolence. We will visit a group of artisans who design barong costumes, perform the dance, and keep the tradition alive by training future generations. We will also have the opportunity to observe the barong dance and learn the steps to the barong dance.

Social Enterprise in West Bali
Ananta is a prominent politician, spiritual leader, the proponent of HIV/sex education, environmental activist, and social entrepreneur in West Bali. Some of his projects include developing a kit that converts the trash into organic liquid compost and working with a community of individuals living with HIV to make beautiful handicrafts out of newspaper waste.

Traditional Songket Making
Balinese songkets are a beautiful time-honored tradition. This art features the sewing of complex designs into a large piece of fabric. Songket-making is a dying art as few take the time to learn this traditional craft.

Balinese Traditional Dance
Meet with father who owns a Balinese dance studio called Satya Laksana, We will learn the basic Balinese dance with him an hear the story of a Balinese dancer.
