Nglanggeran Mount is located in Baturagung area in the north of Gunungkidul Regency with an altitude between 200-700 meters above sea level and with average air temperature of 23 ˚ C – 27 ˚ C, the distance of 20 km from the city Wonosari and 25 km from the city of Yogyakarta, precisely in Nglanggeran Village, Patuk district. This area is an area litologically composed by old volcanic materials and the landscape has a beauty and geologically very unique and high scientific value.

Nglanggeran Mount is an ancient volcano that active about 60 – 70 million years ago and now this mountain is declared no longer active. The mountain is a giant andesite-shaped piece of rock stretching about 800 meters high and 300 meters tall. This ancient mountain has two peaks of the western peak and eastern peak.

Trekking or walking to reach Nglanggeran Peak is the main activity offered in this place. It only takes 1 to 1.5 hours tracking to see amazing Sunrise or exotic Sunset on the mount peak.
