The Barong and Kris dance is one of the island’s most iconic dance-dramas, on par with the Legong and Kecak. Those with a keen interest in arts and culture will appreciate the performances the most, with daily shows scheduled at various stages throughout the island’s main tourism areas – the most popular being at Batubulan in Gianyar, and the Denpasar suburbs. Shows are locally managed locally; dances performed by villagers, and live gamelan orchestra accompanies the full length of the show.

The village of Celuk, located approximately 4km southwest of the Sukawati District, is also Bali’s major centre for goldsmiths and silversmiths. The main road of Jalan Raya Celuk is lined up with galleries and workshops.

Wood-carving evolved in Bali as a form of spiritual devotion and until the 20th century, carvings were exclusively used in temples and palaces. Decorative panels, ornate doors, figures of the deities and masks were created for ceremonial use and often had the function of warding off malevolent spirits.

The Ubud Monkey Forest lies within the village of Padangtegal, which owns it. Other than around 700 monkeys, you also can see 186 species of trees in 12.5 hectares of forest, where will allowing you to get an abundant of fresh air.

Tirta Empul, meaning ‘holy water spring’ is actually the name of a water source located within the temple.
