Awesome Jordan in 13 Days

This private tour shows how amazing Jordan as a place to spend holidays. Journey begins to Ajloun Castle, to well preserved Jerash to Amman. Tour the 3 desert castles to Azraq Reserve. In Salt see Ottoman mansion, head to Madaba to explore more. Hike at Dana Reserve home to beautiful flora. Continue to Petra, a UNESCO Heritage site, by camel and jeep explore Wadi Rum, spend the remaining day relaxing at Aqaba and Dead Sea.

Day 1: Amman Airport – Amman Hotel
Our representative welcomes you with a signage at Amman Airport after you passed the customs. Transfer about 30 minutes to Amman hotel, rest of the day is free, check in and overnight.

Day 2: Amman Hotel – Ajloun Castle – Jerash – Amman City Tour – Amman Hotel
After breakfast leave Amman, drive to Ajloun to visit the great 12th century Islamic castle built around 1184/85 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din. Continue to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East comprising paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theatres, and spacious public squares and plazas. We drive back Jordan's capital Amman, to visit the Citadel with the remains of the Umayyad Palace and the Hercules Temple as well as the Archaeological Museum with its excellent collection. In downtown we see the Roman Theatre from 2nd century and the traditional souks. Then we stroll in Jabal Amman with its 19th century houses, in one of them the late King Hussein had been born. Transfer to Amman hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Amman Hotel – 3 Desert Castles – Azraq Oasis – Amman Hotel
After breakfast, visit three of the Desert Castles in eastern Jordan. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Amra Castle with early examples of Omayyad fresco paintings, Qasr Kharanah and the black basalt fort in Azraq where Lawrence of Arabia stayed. Azraq Oasis is a unique wetland reserve in approximately 12,000 square kilometres of desert. You see here several natural and ancient built pools, a seasonally flooded marshland, and a popular place for bird watching in spring and autumn. Transfer to Amman hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Amman Hotel – Salt City – Dead Sea Panorama - Mt Nebo – Madaba – Madaba Hotel
Pick up from hotel, we drive to the town Salt. Here you walk along Hammam Street to see the highlights of the 19th century architecture of this period, houses with long-arched windows in picturesque narrow streets. Well known is the Abu Jaber mansion, built between 1892 and 1906, reputed to be the finest example of a 19th century merchant house in the region. We drive to Dead Sea Panoramic Complex perched atop the edge of mountain range cliffs, offering spectacular views overlooking the Dead Sea and holy land. Continue to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died. Proceed to Madaba, where to find the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George’s church and to the Archaeological Park where you can see more ancient mosaics. If open, visit the church of St. John the Baptist, also called the Cathedral situated on top of the hill at old town of Madaba with a notable museum containing paintings and themes of the life of John the Baptist. Transfer to Madaba Hotel, check in & overnight.

Day 5: Madaba Hotel – Wadi Jadid Dolmens – Mukawir – Kings Way – Karak – Dana
After breakfast leave hotel & driver to Wadi Jadid where you could see more than 40 dolmens, some of them are still in very good condition and rests were damaged. We continue to Mukawir, the hilltop stronghold of Herod the Great, King of Judea. His son Herod Antipas inherited the fortress. He ordered here the beheading of John the Baptist after Salome's fateful dance. Driving along the famous ancient caravan route the King's Way, we have a short stop in Wadi Al-Mujib, a great wide valley with magnificent geological formation. In Kerak visit the famous Crusader castle built in 1132/34 by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. Continue to Dana for overnight and dinner.

Day 6: Dana Village walking and hiking – Shobak Castle – Little Petra – Little Petra Camp
After breakfast, start walking around the Dana Village & Dana Nature Reserve, Jordan's largest reserve with a diverse flora and fauna, consisting of mountains and wadis. From the village, inhabited since more than 400 years by Bedouins (about 2-3 hrs). Afterwards to Crusader Castle in Shobak, perched on the side of a rocky, conical mountain. From here continue to the bizarre landscape of Little Petra, visit Siq el-Barid, a miniature Petra with its modest gorge (Siq) that leads into an area of carved tombs and monuments. Transfer to Little Petra Camp, for dinner & overnight.

Day 7: Petra Visit - Petra Hotel
After breakfast start tour to the red rose city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. With the guide pass the canyon, the so called Siq, to see the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. After that, free time to explore Petra on your own. Walk the same way back to the entrance. Overnight Petra.

Day 8: Petra Hotel – Wadi Rum Jeep & Camel Riding – Wadi Rum Camp
Aftre breakfast, we drive 1.5 hrs to Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Explore the area by a jeep & camel ride to see rugged mountains, canyons, sand dunes and rock inscriptions from Thamudic and Nabatean period. Dinner & overnight at camp.

Day 9: Wadi Rum – Aqaba City – Aqaba Hotel
Breakfast at the camp, continue journey, we have a round in Aqaba, visiting the Mamluk Fort and the House of Sharif Hussein Bin Ali. See the archaeological dig Ayla and time for some duty free shopping in the Souq. Free afternoon time in Aqaba hotel, check in & overnight.

Day 10: Aqaba Leisure
Free day to enjoy the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. Just relax, explore the duty free shopping facilities or have fun with popular water activities like swimming, snorkeling or diving (not included). Overnight in Aqaba.

Day 11: Aqaba Hotel – Wadi Arava Road - Dead Sea Hotel
Free time until pick up, drive from the Aqaba to the Dead Sea where you can relax the rest of the day and float in the salty water. Overnight Dead Sea.

Day 12: Dead Sea Leisure
Breakfast and overnight at hotel – no other services provided.

Day 13: Dead Sea Hotel – Amman Airport
Latest check out 12:00, according to departure time 1.5 hrs transfer to Amman to board your flight.
