Keeping Good Motor automobile's oil in Your Auto

Benefits of Changing automobile's oil..

Changing the oil in your automobile is the most essential thing you can do to give your car a long life.

Oil cools and cleans the auto's engine and provides a nice, slippery cushion that keeps moving parts from grinding one another to death. Changing your automobile's oil on a regular basis will also save you money in gas.

Simply, a cool and clean engine that operates with less effort, uses less fuel. Oil should usually be changed every 3,000 miles or every 3-months, what ever comes first. If your car is 1,000 miles over due you are putting your engine at risk.

Choosing The Right automobile's oil

To help keep your automobile engine cool, clean and corrosion free, automobile's oil refiners blend in various additives.

Engine Additives helps Oil:

  • Pour better in cold weather.

  • Reduce friction between moving parts in the engine.

  • Prevent corrosion of the metal parts.

  • Prevent the automobile's oil from foaming at high temperatures.

Oil is rated and identified by it's viscosity (it's capability to flow). During cold winter months, automobile's oil tends to thicken and become less able to flow through the engine. In the hot months it thins out, causing friction between the moving parts.

There are mainly two types of automobile's oil in today's market, single-viscosity and multi-viscosity (somtimes called single-weight and multi-weight). Auto manufactures rate automobile's oil viscosity according to the temperature range expected over the automobile's oil range. The lower the number, the thinner the automobile's oil and the more easily it flows.

We all have seen a bottle of automobile's oil that reads: 10W-40. The two numbers (10 and 40) means that this is multi-viscosity automobile's oil, that flows effectivly over a range of temperatures. The '10', is on an index that refers to how the automobile's oil flows at high temperatures. The '40', refers to how it flows at high temperatures. The 'W' means that the automobile's oil can be used in the winter. To decide what viscosity to use look in your owner's manual for an automobile's oil viscosity chart. The manufacture knows what's best for your car.

When purchasing motor automobile's oil be sure it meets the latest industry requirements for protection againts deposit's , wear, oxidation, and corrosion. The symbol you would see is the Amercan Petroleum Institute (API) seal on the front of the bottle.
