Adventure on the Tsiribihina, Tsingy and Allée des Baobabs

This circuit will take you through the great savannah plains of the West to discover one of its most beautiful sites: the Tsingys of Bemaraha. After crossing the highlands and their red brick houses, you will embark on a motorized boat for a two (2) day navigation on the Tsiribihina river, punctuated by pedestrian strolls in the small villages which border the banks. A chaotic track will then lead you into a forest of limestone peaks "les tsingys" classified world heritage by UNESCO

Itinerary

Day 1: Antananarivo - Miandrivazo

Pass By: Antsirabe, Antsirabe, Antananarivo Province
Meet at Soarano Station at 6 a.m. A car will bring you back to the Taxi-brousse station in Ambodivona. By car with the local transport company "Cotisse" to reach Miandrivazo. Arrival in the afternoon. Welcome by the guide and briefing.

Day 2: Beginning of the river cruise

Pass By: Masiakampy, Madagascar
Early in the morning, your tour begins with a long journey to reach Masiakampy (the embarkation port of the Tsiribihina river). Arrival at the port, start of navigation on the Tsiribihina river, 137 km long and up to 1 km wide in places and aboard a magnificent barge (motorboat). During the crossing, you will have the opportunity to see the abundant flora and fauna of the Big Island. The surroundings of the river will also bring you different types of visions, ranging from scenes of the daily local life of the inhabitants, to the magic offered by nature. For this beginning of the cruise, it is thus possible to see: chameleons, turtles and lemurs on the sandy approaches, to observe the cliffs which project towards the sky and villages along the river from which lifestyles show through , practices, stories, behaviors,… Lunch on board the barge. At the end of the day, a calm place, a sublime fall in a divine and preserved corner called Anosinampela waterfall awaits you impatiently; where you could fully enjoy a swim before bivouacking on the fine sandbanks.

Day 3: On the river

Pass By: Begidro, Madagascar
After a good night under the stars, you will still have the opportunity to go to the waterfall to enjoy it one last time before continuing the journey. This new day offers you very varied landscapes, premises that will welcome you in joy and good humor. Lunch on board. All the more, you will have the opportunity to see: crocodiles on the banks of the river taking their sunbathing, aquatic birds such as cormorants and sea eagles, bats on the gorges and cliffs, a kapok tree can be a curiosity for you; it is an amazing exotic tree as its name suggests, this tree gives kapok, a vegetable fiber widely used as stuffing. And a tobacco concession in Begidro which dates from the French colonization. On the cultural level, the Tsiribihina river holds an important place in various sacred places, such as the Fitampoha or the bath of Sakalava relics which is held every 5 years. After dinner in the open air, the villagers come to meet you, sometimes lighting large campfires; where the boatmen will liven up your evening with their songs and their good humor.

Day 4: End of the river trip - Continuation to Bekopaka

Pass By: Bekopaka, Bekopaka, Mahajanga Province
Early departure and after lunch on board the barge, you will bid farewell to this idyllic and welcome river landscape in Belo sur Tsiribihina, located in the central-western part of the Menabe region; where you will cross the river by a floating ferry and leave in 4 * 4 on a track which leads to Tsingy de Bemaraha. It offers an exceptional desert landscape; where you could see small typical villages of Sakalava. Before arriving in Bekopaka, you will cross the Manambolo river. Installation and dinner at the hotel.

Day 5: The Tsingy of Bemaraha

Pass By: Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, Mahajanga Province
The Tsingy du Bemaraha are essentially formed of karstic rocks shaped by erosion over the millennia. To start, you have to discover the Tsingy with a canoe ride on the Manambolo. Without forgetting to stop to visit the many caves. Then small hikes in the little Tsingy supervised by the park guides. The latter is home to 53 species of listed birds, unusual reptiles, a dozen varieties of lemurs with the Decken as a star, identifiable by its white color and of which the 06 species of lemurs present are counted among the rarest in Madagascar. The Petit TSINGY is easier to access. But the great TSINGY is worth the detour, a walk preceded by 17 km of track leads us to the heart of the Grands Tsingy. This vast succession of rocks in sharp blades forms one of the most breathtaking landscapes of Madagascar. Requires good physical condition, climbing is certainly not easy but the beauty of the view is worth the climb.

Day 6: Baobab alley

Pass By: Morondava, Morondava, Toliara Province
After crossing the Manambolo, the return to Morondava is made by the track. In Belo sur Tsirihihina, crossing the river to join Tsimafana and then Morondava. The 4 × 4 car ride meets the famous Baobab in love and some Mahafaly tombs. Here, you can't resist the temptation to take a picture of the Grandidieri Adansonia, one of the seven species of Madagascar. The sunset at this place is not to be missed. It offers not only beautiful photographic patterns, but also a beautiful spectacle of colors. Here you can enjoy the atmosphere under the Malagasy sky.

Day 7: Morondava - Antananarivo
