Wildlife Adventure Trip - 3 Days

A quick escape to the lower Kinabatangan, one of the world richest in ecosystem is a must place to visit when you are in Sandakan. The dawn and dusk river cruise is the best opportunity to see the wildlife. Among the common sighting are the Borneo Pygmy elephant wandering by the river bank and the orangutan in the wild, abundant colouful birds and nocturnal animals.

Itinerary

Day 1: SANDAKAN – SEPILOK – KINABATANGAN RIVER

Stop At: Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sepilok Malaysia
Meet at Sandakan airport and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Proceed to the orangutan feeding platform to view the orangutan feeding, following this take a visit to the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation center to get close to the world smallest bear.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Kinabatangan River, 5, Jalan Leila, Pusat Bandar Sandakan, 90000 Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia
Overland to Bilit, Kinabatangan river and check in to your accommodation. By 3.30 pm have some light refreshment before hop on the boat for afternoon cruise along the Kinabatangan river banks. Return back to your lodge, after dinner go on a nature walk

Day 2: BILIT KINABATANGAN RIVER

Stop At: Kinabatangan River, 5, Jalan Leila, Pusat Bandar Sandakan, 90000 Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia
Wake up early to join the morning cruise at 6 am. Return to the lodge, breakfast and have a rest. Late morning depart for a guided jungle walk to experience the riverine forest. Trek back to the lodge, freshen up and lunch. Free and easy in the afternoon, laze around by the river lodge keep a watchful eyes for wildlife around the lodge area. Around Late afternoon get ready for another river cruise to a different part of the river in hope to see more wildlife.

Day 3: GOMANTONG CAVE - PROBOSCIS BAY

Stop At: Gomantong Cave Sandakan, Gomantong Hill, Sandakan Malaysia
Breakfast and by 8.30 am depart for Gomantong cave to explore the largest limestone & bird nests cave in Sabah where millions of swiftlets make the cave their home.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, Mile 19, Sankadan Sps 3, Sandakan 90000 Malaysia
Following lunch, visit the Proboscis Monkey sanctuary, an endemic primates in Borneo. After transfer to Sandakan airport or to your hotel of stay.
