MAIZTRO Mexican Cooking Class AND market tour

I’ve been a traveler and a foodie all my life. My grandmother, bless her, taught me everything I now about Mexican cuisine; everything from how to stuff ancho peppers, to the most important leasson of them all: how to drink tequila. “Don’t drink it,” she said, “you have to close your eyes and kiss it!”
Now, after many years of cooking for my family and friends, I want to go a step further and share my family secrets with the world—anyone who loves Mexico and its sweet, mouthwatering culture.

HANDS ON MEXICAN COOKING CLASS
We provide the ingredients and know-how; all you have to do is roll up your sleeves and savor the experience: begin the day with an IN-DEPTH MARKET TOUR and select the finest produce; join me in my kitchen and learn RECIPES YOU CAN PREPARE BACK HOME; sit down at our dinner table and enjoy a well-earned feast! You may not know anything about Mexican cuisine today, but by the end of the class you will be an expert tortilla maker and a true, qualified MAIZTRO.

Here in Mexico it’s all about variety. I’ve carefully designed the menu so guests can prepare everything back home, but we’ve also included several surprises (seasonal fruits and vegetables) which are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Surprises and menus vary slightly depending on the season, but this is what we usually offer: we teach our guests how to prepare handmade tortillas, tlacoyos, agua de jamaica, salsa de molcajete, guacamole, stuffed peppers and chocolate covered marzipans served with local fruit and coffee. Class also includes a brief Tequila tasting (blanco, reposado, and añejo), as well as three additional shots of your favorite tequila.

Stop At:

• Mercado de Coyoacan, Centro de Coyoacan Hidalgo and Malitzin, Mexico City 04100 Mexico

Sample Menu

• Agua de Jamaica
• Guacamole - Made on a traditional molcajete and served with totopos.
• Tequila (blanco, reposado and añejo)
• Tlacoyos - Made from scratch and topped with sour cream, lettuce, cotija cheese and a freshly made salsa.
• Stuffed Ancho Peppers - Filling varies depending on seasons and our client’s dietary restrictions.
• Chocolate Covered Marzipans or Obleas with piloncillo and pumpkin seeds
