Itinerary

Day 1: Bayan-Ulgii - Tavan Bogd border boundry

Stop At: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, China Border-Sagsai Rd Olgii city, Olgiy 83120 Mongolia
You will arrive in Ulgii City, in the Bayan-Ulgii province of Western Mongolia.

Early in the morning pick you up from the airport. We will have breakfast then drive to Tsengel village via Ulaankhus.

You will meet a throat singer in Tsengel and have lunch in our wooden house then drive to the White river.

On the way we will visit nomadic families see their culture and take pictures when needed.

Car go to the White river and we will stay overnight near the border boundary.

Day 2: Tavan Bogd boundary - Base camp, Potanin Glacier

Stop At: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, China Border-Sagsai Rd Olgii city, Olgiy 83120 Mongolia
Trek for the 17km towards the base camp of the snow-capped Tavan Bogd massif. We will pitch camp next to the 20km long Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai – and remain there for two nights. TavanBogd means “the Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul( Cold peak ) is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level.. The other peaks are: Nairamdal( Friendship ), Ulgii, Burged(Eagle) and Malchin(Nomad). Enjoy the gorgeous view of all of them during the sun set and sun rise.

Day 3: Hike and Climb Malchin Peak

To the top of the Malchin peak

Today we will make a day hike to the Malchin peak(4050m). Malchin peak is the one of five peaks of the Tavan Bogd mountain on the Mongolia-Russian border. Non-technical climbing mountain. Breathtaking view from the top of the mountain.

Day 4: Trek down to Tsagaan Gol valley

Stop At: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, China Border-Sagsai Rd Olgii city, Olgiy 83120 Mongolia
Trek back to to the head of Tsagaan Gol( White River ) valley where Tuvan people spend their summer. Tuvans are shamans, and there are some tribe people who really practice shaman. In the evening visit Tuvan family and get introduced to their culture, taste dairy products as well as milk vodka, which is distilled from the yogurt , made from yak milk. They also do wonderful felt crafts. Camp nearby the family.

Day 5: Khurgan, Khoton lakes

Stop At: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, China Border-Sagsai Rd Olgii city, Olgiy 83120 Mongolia
Today we are going to drive to the southern part of Altai Tavan Bogd National park which is one of the most beautiful place in Western Mongolia. This is the region where the Khoton and Khurgan lakes are. On the way to the destination we would stop in Mogoit/ Snake valley to see the ancient stone man, balbals. We would pass through some high passes where you have chance to landscaping and we would visit eagle hunter’s family where you would have chance to get in to the nomadic culture and would have deep knowledge of hunting with eagles. While staying with family enjoy the authentic nomadic life style, you will get to know the family and hear the stories of hunting. Learn how they train, feed and take care of their Golden Eagles.

Dinner and stay overnight with the family.

Day 6: Baga Turgen waterfall, back to Ulgii

Hiking to Baga Turgen area and see waterfall and drive back to Ulgii
