Mongolian Winter Tour 3D/2N

The tour takes 3 days to cover the most popular travel destinations and attractions around Ulaanbaatar and central part of Mongolia including UNESCO World Heritage Sites, snow covered landscapes and interesting national parks etc.
In Mongolia, winter is the coldest and longest season. But, beautiful with its shiny white snow covers. It's snowing across the country, but not heavy. Winter begins in early November and lasts about 110 days until March. The winter is Average day temperature is -14C to -26C degrees and night temperature is -18C to -30C degrees. The temperature can reach -32C to -38C degrees in some remote areas in northern and western part of Mongolia. Daylight is short. The shortest daylight is 9 hours in winter
Winter in Mongolia is a remarkable experience - especially as the Mongolians you meet will be very proud to welcome foreign visitors in wintertime. Mongolia’s winters are home to incredible landscapes for those who are prepared.

Itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar City

Pass By: Ulaanbaatar, Ulaanbaatar
Today we wll explore the city and visit “Gandan” Monastery, Mongolia’s largest functioning Buddhist monastery. Listen to the horns calling lamas and monks to temple and capture the monks’ daily rituals while visiting the adjoining Megjid Janraisig and Temples. The temple houses feature a 26-meter-high majestic gilded statue of Migjid Janraisig.
Next, visit Sukhbaatar square and Parliament House displayed with Great Khans memorial statue. The square lies at the heart of the city surrounded by theaters, government buildings.
After lunch, visit the National Museum of Mongolia for to get an overview of Mongolia’s history and culture including nomadic life, traditional costumes of ethnic groups, sacred religious relics, and Stone & Bronze Age artifacts.
Continue to visit Bogd Khan Palace museum - the complex was a residence of 8th Bogd Javzandamba in 19th century, the head of Mongolian religion. The palace consists of seven Summer Prayer temples and the winter palace.

Day 2: Terelj National Park

Pass By: Gorkhi Terelj National Park, Gorkhi Terelj National Park, Tov Province
In the morning at 09:00am, our tour will continue to Terelj National Park, which is one of the most visited national parks in Mongolia. On the way, we will visit Manzushir Monastery ruins in Bogd Khan Mt. National Park. The monastery had over 20 temples and was once home to at least 300 monks but was destroyed in the 1930s. The main temple has been restored and converted into a museum.
Upon arrival at Ger camp, which is located in the most spectacular spots in the Terelj National park, we will check in the Ger camp and have lunch. Then we will explore the national park and take a short drive to see Turtle Rock - interesting rock formation looking like a turtle and visit Ariyabal meditation temple - surrounded by scenic mountains with massive rock formations and sits at top of the mountain. From the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking view overlooking the Terelj National Park.
Before dinner time, we will visit local nomadic family to experience firsthand how people live the country side, a lifestyle which has not changed for centuries. Here you can help the herders with their daily tasks to get an idea of how nomadic people alongside of their livestock.

Day 3: Terelj National Park

Pass By: Genghis Khan Statue Complex, Tsonjin Boldog, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia
In the morning at 9am, we will return to Ulaanbaatar. On the way, we will visit “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. There is a recreation area, restaurants, and souvenir shops occupy the base structure.
From here, you can ascend to the head of the horse using an elevator. There you have a good panoramic view over the complex area and the scenery beyond.
Upon arrival at Ulaanbaatar city, we will visit Zaisan Memorial Hill is located in the south side of Ulaanbaatar City, right beside the Bogd Khan Mountain having a best view of the city and surrounding hills.
After lunch at Modern Nomads restaurant, we will visit “Gandan” Monastery, Mongolia’s largest functioning Buddhist monastery including the Mongolian Buddhist University. The highlight of visiting to Gandan is 26-meter-high majestic gilded indoor statue of Megjid Janraisig.
In the evening, we will visit “Wonders of Mongolia” folklore show by famous Tumen-Ekh ensemble - is one of the most successful folk art groups to share traditional Mongolian music with the world, having traveled to over 40 countries.
