This tour focuses on Buddhism, showcasing the different types of practice that exist in Nepal. The walking tour takes you from the famous Kopan Monastery to one of the main Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal, Boudhanath Stupa. Boudhanath is also the place where many Tibetan refugees live. Something to be experienced! During the whole tour, you will be led by a Buddhist Lama. The experience can be shared with maximum 10 travelers in a group or private.
In Kopan Monastery you will participate in a philosophy session about Buddhism followed by a short meditation. Great way to find your inner peace! After lunch and a visit around the monastery you walk with the monk through agricultural fields and local villages to Boudhanath with a chance to debate and learn more about Buddhism. Ask all the questions you want, the monk is here for you! The tour ends with a prayer session and lighting candles in one of the many Tibetan Gompas around Boudhanath.
The Stupa is semicircle shaped structure (domed) memorial which contains the relics and remains of Buddha. The Stupa of Bauddhanath is believed to have the remains of Kassapa Buddha. Boudhanath has been listed as world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1979. Boudhnath is very popular place for Buddhist holly rituals and popular sightseeing place to all tourists in Kathmandu. Stupa usually signifies a domed memorial that normally contains relics and offerings. Its shape evokes the seated figure of the Buddha, and there are 8 traditional variations to the form, each commemorating an event in the life of the Teacher. They are evocative of the eight chaityas that first held the Master's relics.
