How to spend 3 days in Kathmandu Nepal

This 3-day trip package will involve the sight seeing in the six out of ten-world heritage site of Nepal which is all situated in Kathmandu Valley. Here you will experience the pleasure of hiking, the bird’s eye view of the famous mountain ranges like Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Everest, a sweet melodious sun-rise and cultural, religious and architectural beauty.
Your journey begins from the very airport from where you will be picked up where you will observe locals enjoying themselves and also monkeys living their life to the fullest. Next is the sunrise from the most popular hill station with view of whole Kathmandu valley and eight mountain ranges. This easy 3-day trip ends rather religiously mixing up the Hindu and Buddhist religions i.e. the most important and sacred place to the people of these religions.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day 01: Arrival and Half Day Sight seeing in Kathmandu

Stop At: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal
Welcome to the land of Nepal where natural beauty is represented by its Himalayas, terrain, flora and fauna. You will be picked up at the airport and taken to your deluxe hotel. After you have freshened up and rested from your long flight, you will be taken to the office for briefing about your 3 days stay in Nepal and the trip commences from the same day where you will be taken to two of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley.
Your first stop will be the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Among the three durbar squares located in Kathmandu Valley, it was most effected by the earthquake that occurred in 2015. Even though, the destruction was much, it is still a lively place with local vendors and people hustling there. The Basantapur is the best place to chill. And you will be amazed by the remaining preserve monuments of Kal Bhairav and Kumari Ghar where the living Goddesses of Nepal resides. As you can see the constructions of many temples are ongoing including the royal palace, you will still be impressed by the architectural significance of the existing monuments and temples there.
After the sightseeing is over in Kathmandu Durbar Square, you will head towards the Swayambhunath temple also known as the monkey temple which is the second important place for the Buddhist in Nepal. It has architectural, religious and cultural value for which it is enlisted as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal. Not only important to Buddhist, but also the Hindu people, the Swayambhunath Stupa is surrounded by many shrines and temples. A big vajra or thunderbolt scepter is present at its entrance with a white dome in the middle. The view of Kathmandu valley from the Swayambhunath is amazing to gaze upon. After a brief moment there, you will head back to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Day 02: Sunrise at Nagarkot and Changunarayan Hike – Bhaktapur Sightseeing

Stop At: Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur 00977-1-4701148 Nepal
The next morning, you will be getting up early in the morning before the sunrise and drive towards the Nagarkot viewpoint to see the beautiful sight of sunrise midst the majestic mountains like Mount Everest and mountain ranges like Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Langtang range and five more. After the panoramic view with the glowing rays of sun you can spectate the views of Kathmandu valley and also Shivapuri National park from there. After a certain time there, you will experience a short hike down trail towards the Changunarayan.
It is a popular hiking route near Kathmandu valley. You can also see many people going down the same route as you are. You will find the contrast of cultural followed by natural encounters observing local Tamang community and deciduous forest. After 4 hours of hike down, you will reach the milestone of today’s hike which is the Changunarayan temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kathmandu Valley.
Changunarayan temple is an artistic master piece that signifies religious and architectural importance to us. This temple is the oldest temple of our country with its own style of architecture also called a traditional Nepali styled temple. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu with many monuments and statues of forms of Lord Vishnu. Also, temples of other deity are located in the regions.
Along the way you will be pleased by the old houses surrounding you on your journey. They belong to the local people there who are of the Newar community. They have their own culture, values and norms. After few walk around, you can see many monuments such as historical pillars, statues of former kings, and deities. You will be astonished by another Durbar Square present there called Bhaktapur Durbar Square, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The major attractions here are the 55-window palace, Nyatapola temple, Lion’s Gate and other temples. You will also be able to see the local festivity that occurs there if the day favors. Back at hotel for the night.

Day 3: Day 03: Remaining half day tour of Kathmandu Valley

Stop At: Bouddhanath Stupa - Khaasti Chaitya, गुना कामदेव मार्ग, Kathmandu 44600, Nepal
This is the last day of your short journey with us where you will visit the two famous tourist destination and also the UNESCO World Heritage Site namely Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. Your first destination is the temple situated on the banks of the holy river Bagmati, Pashupatinath temple. It is a temple that covers a large area with many other temples built in pagoda and other styles. It is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva where the devotees come from other countries too. Also, it is the last place for Hindus after death as the cremation ceremony is conducted openly near banks of the holy river Bagmati.
After spending a brief amount of time there, you will be heading towards the most important spiritual and religious area for Buddhist people i.e. Boudhanath. It is one of the biggest dome shaped stupa in Nepal which is enveloped by the sound of the prayers and smell of the incense. Many smaller Gompas are built around the periphery of the stupa. The people there are friendly and the environment energizes you. After spending some time at Boudhanath, you will be dropped to your hotel for the recollection of the memories of your trip and a chance to explore the Thamel market if you like. You can collect some tokens of gifts to your family or friends back. Later you will be dropped to the airport for your flight back or can make arrangements to stay and explore more of this magical nation. (with extra charges involved).
