Combine the world famous Royal Flower Auction in Aalsmeer with a visit to UNESCO's Kinderdijk.
The flower auction starts very early in the morning, so the tour departs at 6:30 am from Amsterdam. It's worth to be there early to experience the hustle & bustle. Nowadays a lot of trading is done online, but you still see traders bidding against the auction clock. Enjoy a tour and learn about the flower industry. A transfer of 1.5 hrs takes you to Kinderdijk. The ingenious system of mills and pumping stations has kept the soil dry here for nearly a 1000 years now.
Watch a brief introductory movie and walk with your guide to two windmills (max 1 mi). All the other windmills are inhabited. Ask the millers anything you'd like to know about milling, before walking back to the visitor's center.
Then you have free time to explore the area on your own. Let the skippers of Kinderdijk carry you across the waters for 30 min; a guarantee for marvellous pictures.
