Places to stop along the way include the Glenfalloch Gardens, Macandrew Bay, Larnach Castle, Sandfly Bay, Highcliff Road Viewing Point, Rotary Park and Waverley. Keep in mind, there is an entrance fee to Larnach Castle.

Larnach Castle, is a mock castle on the ridge of the Otago Peninsula within the limits of the city of Dunedin, New Zealand, close to the small settlement of Pukehiki. It is one of a few houses of this scale in New Zealand. The house was built by the prominent entrepreneur and politician, William Larnach. (Wikipedia)

Pass By: Sandfly Bay Track, Seal Point Road Otago Peninsula area, Dunedin New Zealand

Its well worth taking a walk at Sandfly Bay. The track down to the lookout is an easy walk. From there down to the Bay itself, the track gets harder. If you do make it down to Sandfly Bay, you will most likely come across sea lions and seals. Please keep at least 10m away from them because they are fast!

Pass By: Macandrew Bay, Dunedin, New Zealand

Macandrew Bay is a suburb of Dunedin, but has its own small community. There is a school with approximately 170 children. Some of the facilities in the bay include an art gallery, pharmacy, boat club and pottery gallery.

Andersons Bay was named after James Anderson, an early settler. He was the first European settler in the district in 1844, along with his son and daughter in law. That was four years before Dunedin was officially founded.

Glenfalloch Woodland Gardens have been classified as a Garden of National Significance. They're run by the Otago Peninsula Trust, which is a charitable trust. There is an honesty box at the gate.

The stone figure of a World War 1 infantryman gazes towards the Otago Harbour entrance as if in eternal vigilance against attack on the city of Dunedin. Designed by architect Edward Walter Walden and sculpted by Robert Hosie, the infantryman in greatcoat with rifle slung over his left shoulder stands about 3m tall atop a bluestone column of about 10m.
