4Day Inca Trail Machu Picchu Trek

Have the classic Peruvian experience during this 4-day hike along the Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu. One of the most famous trekking routes in the world, the Machu Picchu Inca Trail starts in a typical mountainous Andean region and finishes in a jungle — going through cloud forests, Inca tunnels, bridges, and snow along the way.

On Day 1, leave early from Cusco by bus, arriving at the trail's start to meet up with your porters and cooks. Cross the Piscacucho bridge, then climb to arrive to your lunch stop of Patallaqta. Cross the Valley of Huayllabamba, where you'll reach your campsite in time for dinner.

On Day 2, trek to Warmihuañusca and enjoy panoramic views of the high, snowy mountains surrounding you at lunch. Descend to your campsite, at Pacaymayu to have dinner and spend the night.

On Day 3, begin to trek up to Runcuracay, an ancient archaeological site. Continue to Sayacmarka (another archaeological area) for lunch. Continue to the Inca city Puyupatamarca ("City above the clouds") before arriving at Wiñaywayna for dinner and your last night in a tent.

On Day 4 continue to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) after breakfast, then take a guided tour of Machu Picchu before exploring the famous site on your own. Bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch at your own expense, then take the train back to Cusco.
