Itinerary

Day 1: Transport to lodge, visit CREA - the largest wildlife rehabilitation center, night excursion to see nocturnal wildlife.

Stop At: Amazon River, Iquitos 16000 Peru
· Our friendly, experienced and bilingual guide will greet you at Iquitos airport when you arrive before 2:00pm, or if you arrive after 2:00pm our guide will pick you up from your Iquitos Hotel the next morning.

· After picking you up we will take a 20 minute ride to CREA - the largest wildlife rehabilitation center in the Amazon with manatee rehabilitation where we will spend about an hour looking at variety of animals, from manetees to monkeys to birds and many other wildlife. Depending when your flight arrives, you may have lunch here, or on the way to the lodge, or at the lodge.

· From CREA you will take an hour ride to San Joaquin where you will board our boat for an hour ride on the Amazon river and then onto the Yanayacu river where you may be greeted by the pink dolphins and birds. You will ride up the Yanayacu river deep into a pristine, primary Amazon rainforest where animals run free and Grand Amazon Lodge resides.

· Once at the lodge, you will be greeted with a jungle refreshment and settle into your private, riverfront view bungalow with bathroom, balcony and a hammock.

· Enjoy a delicious Peruvian/International dinner in our beautiful octagonal dining room with the canoe bar and a lounge.

· Night excursion: You will be taking a boat ride or a night hike to see nocturnal animals like caiman, bats, frogs, nocturnal birds, and owl monkeys (a nocturnal primate and the only monkey in the Amazon active at night)

Day 2: Morning, afternoon and night excursions.

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
· Enjoy Breakfast at the lodge.

· Morning excursion: Hike through the jungle to see the Pygmy Marmosets, the smallest monkey in the world, and search for the owl monkeys and a variety of birds and lizards and learn about medicinal, like the iodine tree, and industrial plants, such as the rubber trees.

· Enjoy Lunch at the lodge.

· Afternoon excursion: Boat ride to look for wildlife such as over ten species of monkeys like the squirrel and howler monkeys, and hundreds of species of birds like macaws, toucans, horned screamers, and varieties of king fishers and hawks. the tour will end with seeing the Victoria Amazonica - the largest water lily in the world and enjoying sunset views over the lake.

· Night excursion: Boat ride or night hike to search for nocturnal creatures. You can also relax at the canoe bar or in your private bungalow.

Day 3: Morning, afternoon and night excursions.

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
· Enjoy Breakfast at the lodge.

· Morning excursion: Hike through the jungle to explore more wildlife, like iguanas, capibaras, sloths or ant eaters, and/or take a boat to visit the Amazonian village of San Juan de Yanayacu.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
· Enjoy Lunch at the lodge.

· Afternoon excursion: Canoe and/or fish in the Amazon with your guide in pristine Sapote Lake or through the river tributaries, where you can touch the vines of dangling from trees and encounter monkeys, over 600 species of birds, fish, and even pink river dolphins. Enjoy all of it along with the sunset.

· Enjoy Dinner at the lodge.

· Night excursion: Boat ride or night hike to search for nocturnal creatures. You can also relax at the canoe bar or in your private bungalow to get ready for the early morning.

Day 4: Morning, afternoon and night excursions.

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru

· Morning excursion: Hike and/or take a boat to look for the Hoazin bird, thought to be prehistoric because it grow claws during the development of its wings, or look for the endangered Wattle Curassow that is only found in our area in the whole world.

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
· Enjoy Lunch at the lodge.

· Visit San Juan de Yanayacu, the local Amazonia ribereño village that we support. Visit their artisanal craft market run by the village solely by the village women and maybe enjoy a drink at their bar or even play in a soccer game.

· Night excursion: Boat ride or night hike to search for nocturnal creatures. You can also relax at the canoe bar, play cards in the living space, or enjoy your private bungalow.

Day 5: A whole day excursion and a night excurtion.

Stop At: Amazon Rainforest, Peru
· Enjoy Breakfast at the lodge.

· Day excursion: Today you will take a boat ride to visit Terra Firma. You will hike in search of poisen frogs and other wildlife that is unique to this terrain. Then you will embark the boat and ride it to an Amazonian village right alone the Amazon river, where you will have a picnic lunch. After lunch you will see how the villagers make rum from sugar cane and you will get the opportunity to taste it. Return to the lodge for an afternoon relaxation in your room, bar or play a game in the lounge.

· Night excursion: Boat ride or night hike to search for nocturnal creatures. You can also relax at the canoe bar, play cards in the living space, or enjoy your private bungalow one last time before your trip away from the lodge tomorrow.

Day 6: Morning excursion, Nauta and back to Iquitos

· Morning excursion: a hike or a boat tour to look for new animals in your last day at the lodge.

· Enjoy Lunch at the lodge.

· Say farewell to the lodge and board our speedboat for a ride back to Nauta. Visit Nauta Lagoona Sapi Sapi where you will see and feed the Paiche - the largest fresh water fish in the world, and the yellow spotted turtle - which are a threatened species.

Stop At: Amazon River, Iquitos 16000 Peru
· Take a car ride back to Iquitos.

· Arrive at the airport or your hotel by 5:00pm. (For those needing to catch an earlier flight the last day plane can be shortened and the earliest we can make is back to Iquitos airport is 10:00am).
