Pass By: Cusco Cathedral, Portal Belen Plaza de Armas, Cusco 08002 Peru

Cuzco is a city in the Peruvian Andes that was the capital of the Inca Empire and is known for its archaeological remains and Spanish colonial architecture. The Plaza de Armas is the center of the ancient city, with galleries, carved wooden balconies and ruins of Inca walls. The convent of Santo Domingo, in baroque style, was built on the Temple of the Inca Sun (Qoricancha) and has archaeological remains of Inca stonework.

Stop At: Parque Arqueologico De Raqchi, San Pedro Peru

This archaeological complex is located in the district of San Pedro de Cacha, province of Canchis, department of Cusco at 3460 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Quimsachata volcano. Archaeologists have divided it into 5 main sectors: (A) Wiracocha Temple, (B) Squares, C) Colcas, (D) Mesapata and (E) Sector E, plus an artificial water reservoir in front of the Temple and a wall surrounding the entire complex.

Stop At: La Raya Pass, Peru

a Raya marks the border between the regions of Cusco and Puno and it is a typical natural area of the zone known as “Puna” whose surrounding flora is mainly formed by “ichu” and its fauna by “alpacas”, “llamas” and vicunas.

Stop At: Pukara Archaeological Site, Pucara Peru

The Pukará culture was developed between the years 1600 B.C. and 400 A.D., on a high plateau located 106 kilometers north-east of the city of Puno. In this museum we can find pottery and sculptures representing zoomorphic figures, amongst which we can see the famous sculpture of the HATUNÑAQAC, meaning in our language “The Supreme Executioner”.

Stop At: Sillustani, Puno 00159 Peru

Sitting on rolling hills on the Lago Umayo peninsula, the chullpas (funerary towers) of Sillustani stand out for miles against a desolate altiplano landscape. The ancient Colla people who once dominated the Lake Titicaca area were a warlike, Aymara-speaking tribe, who later became the southeastern group of the Incas. They buried their nobility in these towers, which can be seen scattered widely around the hilltops of the region.

In Andean belief, Titicaca is the birthplace of the sun. Set between Peru and Bolivia, it’s the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable body of water in the world. Bright days contrast with bitterly cold nights. Enthralling, deep-blue Lake Titicaca is the unifying, longtime home of highland cultures steeped in the old ways.
