Salkantay or Sallqantay (in Quechua) is the highest peak in the Vilcabamba mountain range, part of the PeruvianAndes. It is located in the Cusco Region, about 60 km (40 mi) west-northwest of the city of Cusco. It is the 38th highest peak in the Andes, and the twelfth highest in Peru. Humantay is a 5,473 metres (17,956 ft) mountain in the Vilcabamba Range in the Andes of Peru.

 ITINERARY

We are going to provide a complementary free pick up from your Hotel or private location, once we meet you, we will set up everything for our departure and start our adventure to the Humantay Lake with a 3-hour-drive in private Air conditioned Minivan transport to Soraypampa a local community located at (3850 m.a.s.l.). Soraypampa is the campsite where we will stop and get ready our equipment to start our Hike, before it we will enjoy the delicious and powerfull tea of Coca leaves to prevent any altitude disorders. In Soraypampa is optional to enjoy a delicious breakfast to start our day before beginning our trek. We will start our trek up to the Humantay Lake (4200 m.a.s.l.) with beautiful views and if the sky is clear enough, we can see the impressive snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay. It is a 1.5-hour-walk Average to the lake with a low to moderate difficulty, close by the Lagoon you will realize how worth it was the Hike when you see the magical and wonderful view of the lake. Optionally you can hire a horse instead. We will have enough time to take pictures, bring an offer to the Apus or Pachamama, After some free time relaxing and finding yourself connected with the Nature, we will start our descent to Soraypampa of about 1.5 hours, which is a lot easier than the way up. In Soraypampa lunch will await us and after some rest we return to Cusco where we will arrive at 6 p.m.
