Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 days Allincluded

The mythic Salkantay trek brings you in the Peruvian mountains, passing by the Salkantay and Humantay peaks to finally arrive in the Inca's Wonder, Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Soyroccocha

Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08002 Peru
We will pass by your hotel early in the morning at 4:30 hours and after 3 hours get to the village of Mollepata. From here we begin the hike to Soraypampa which is two hours away from the route. We arrive to Soraypampa for lunch, which is also the base camp for the night. Soraypampa is located at the bottom of the Humantay Mountain. In the afternoon we walk 1h30 to reach the Humantay Lake. We have free time there nd then come back to the camp for dinner.

Day 2: Salkantay path

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After an early breakfast, we will walk for 3 hours to reach the pass which is the highest point of the trek (4600 m). Here you will find yourself in the midst of two large mountains: Salkantay (6271 m) and Humantay (5850 m). Salkantay is the second highest and most important mountain in the region of Cusco. In addition, along the way we will be able to observe the great Lake of Salkantay with its waters of glacial origin. Then we descend to Rayanniyoc where we will have lunch. We finally continued for 3 more hours down the mountain to our second camp in Chaullay.

Day 3: Chaullay - Santa Teresa

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
Around 7:00 am; we will start our trek to Santa Teresa. The hike takes around 5 hours to the end of the trail. Then we will catch a local transportation to Santa Teresa, where will have our overnight. In the afternoon we may go to Santa Teresa´s hot spring to enjoy it. Then back at the campsite for free time and dinner.

Day 4: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After breakfast, there are several options: do a 6 hours hike to the ruins of Llactapata (optional), do several ziplines (optional) or have free time in Sant Teresa/Hidroelectrica. We all have lunch together in Hidroelectrica. After lunch we going to walk along the train. After two and half hours walk we arrive at Aguas Calientes town: base town of Machu Picchu for overnight in the hotel and dinner at the local restaurant.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Peru
Early in the morning we will leave to finally reach the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, climbing the stairs during 1 hour and half or taking a bus (not included) during 30 minutes. We will have a 2 hours tour in Machu Picchu with our guide and free time on the archaeological site. In the afternoon, we are scheduled to return to Aguas Calientes Village and then take the train to Ollantaytambo and our transport from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco; or going back walking to Hidroelectrica and take the bus at 3 pm from Hidroelectrica to Cusco.
