Unconventional Ausangate Rainbow Mountain 2 days

Ritisuyo is the only agency operating this route. Surronded by amazing landscapes, snow capped mountains, lakes, alpacas and coloured mountains, you will hike in the most impressive conditions. You will arrive hours before the other tourists in the Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley and really enjoy these breathtaking places.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco to Anandapata

Stop At: Ausangate, Cusco 08002 Peru
We are going to leave Cusco at 7:30 to arrive around 12 at the beginning of the trek. After lunch the hike begins. We walk in little trails surrounded by alpacas, in the bottom of the Ausangate summit (6384m). It is 2 hours – hike to reach the Ritisuyo’s base camp. If the group want to, it is possible to keep on the hike to the Pocacocha Laguna. Coming back to the base camp, we have dinner in front of the sunset on the coloured mountains.

Day 2: Rainbow Moutain

Stop At: Montana de Siete Colores, Cusco 084 Peru
Early in the morning (around 3 am) we wake up, have breakfast under the stars and begin the hike to be the first ones on the Rainbow Mountain. The trail is passing by lagunas, by the Warmisaya pass (4985 m.asl) where you can see the sunrise on the Ausangate. After a 3-hours hike you arrive (first) on the Rainbow Mountain. Its colours are the most beautiful at this time and there no or few tourists yet at this moment. You can enjoy the landscape and the point of view on Vinicunca.

After enjoying the Rainbow Mountain, we are going to the Red Valley, climb to the Mirador Hatun Rit’iyoq (5069 m.asl) and if the group has a good walking rhythm, go down in the valley.
We take around 45 minutes to go down in direction of Pitumarca to take the Ritivan back to Cusco.
