In this tour we will go from prehistoric history to the present day.

First let's begin by witnessing the remains of the "Portuguese Stonehenge". We will visit 3 areas composed of stones, menhirs and a dolmen. These areas are three to seven thousand years before Christ. All that's left of the Paleolithic.

From here, we go to the city of Évora. There we can see its Cathedral, the Chapel of Bones, the Temple of Diana and the University. All important part of the history of Portugal.

Stop At: Centro Interpretativo dos Almendres, Rua do Cromeleque Near Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe a 15 Kms de Évora, Evora 7000-092 Portugal

The Cromeleque of the Almendres is a reflection of gigantic proportions of the age of pagan enchantment, known like New Age of the Stone. Built towards sunrise and sunset, this megalithic enclosure is located on a gentle slope on the property of Almendres. A place that could very well represent the Alentejo. Formed by two distinct enclosures, built between the end of the sixth and third millennium BC, this cromlech is one of the largest and most important megalithic monuments in the world. It is much older than the famous Stonehenge.

Stop At: Cathedral of Evora (Se Catedral de Evora), Largo do Marques de Marialva, Evora 7000-809 Portugal

You can see its silhouette from far away, elaborated in the urban landscape. The magnificence of the Cathedral of Évora can also be seen in the three large ships of the interior. In the highest, the central nave, we find the altar of Our Lady of the Angel. It is completely made of wood carving from the Baroque era, with Gothic images of the Virgin Mary and the Angel Gabriel in marble. In addition you can admire the pulpit and the most beautiful tube organ of the Renaissance period.

The chapel was built in the 17th century with the aim of conveying the message of temporality and fragility of human life. This message appears clearly to the visitors of the Chapel of Bones, just at the entrance, through the plaque "We bones, we are here, for you, we hope". In fact, it shows the macabre taste of Baroque men for necrophilia. The human bones and skulls carefully scattered and connected with cement cover the walls of the Bones Chapel and its eight pillars.

Pass By: Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), Largo do Conde de Vila Flor Dentro da Muralha, Evora 7000-804 Portugal

This Roman temple in Evora is one of the largest and best preserved Roman temples in the Iberian Peninsula. That's why it was considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. This is the ex-libris of the city, a kind of business card. And, of course, the most important representative of the Romans remains in Evora.
