6-Days Akagera, Nyungwe Forest and Volcanoes National Park Tour

This 6 days Rwanda safari and wildlife tour takes you to 3 National Parks within Rwanda. It begins and finishes in Kigali to Akagera National Park, Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Itinerary

Day 1: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA, DO HALF GAME DRIVE DEPENDING ON YOUR ARRIVAL AND LATER IN THE EVENING DO THE NIGHT GAME DRIVE

Stop At: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
Meet and greet at your hotel in Kigali. Following a delicious breakfast in Kigali, you will drive to Akagera National Park the only wildlife Park in the whole of Rwanda yet the smallest of the three national Parks. You will arrive at your Lodge, in time for lunch, where you will check in, have lunch, rest and later have a game drive in the afternoon looking for Elephants, Gazelles, Antelopes, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Impalas, Leopards, Zebras, Bush Babies, Lions, Rhinos, Topis and Baboons among others, you will continue the game drive by joining the night game starting at 6PM. Later, head back to the Lodge where you will dine and spend the night

Day 2: MORNING BOAT TOUR AND DO A HALF GAME DRIVE AFTERWARDS

Stop At: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
In the morning at 9AM we will join a boat trip experience which takes about 2 hours, later we will drive back to the lodge for lunch. At 1:30PM we will line another half game drive end around 6PM.

Day 3: FULL GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK FOR GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING

Pass By: Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Kinigi, Ruhengeri Rwanda
Wake up early in the morning at 6AM, after breakfast we will do a full game drive from the south to the northern exit of the park and drive straight to Kigali. We will have lunch in Kigali and continue to Musanze, Ruhengeri for Golden monkey tracking. This day will be only travelling throughout the country!

Day 4: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING

Stop At: Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Kinigi, Ruhengeri Rwanda
In the morning, you will drive to the park headquarters arriving before 8:00am for a briefing as well as distribution into Golden Monkey Groups. You will then head out into the forest and begin tracking. You will be permitted to spend utmost one hour with the monkeys and there you can take photos and even videos but as per the park regulations. After one hour, you’ll go back to the lodge for some refreshments and a delicious Lunch. We have chosen for you to do the golden monkey because they are in famous volcanoes national park home to Mountain Gorillas and they share the same habitat with gorillas by the chance you meet them while tracking. Later you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park in the southern west of the country for the chimpanzees and canopy walk way tour.

Day 5: THE CANOPY WALK WAYTHE CANOPY WALK WAY

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Nyungwe forest is a home to 13 different types of primates, doing the canopy walk bridge is an amazing choice to see some of the feeding in the canopy of trees. This bridge consists of two part, the first little walk and the longer while you are at this canopy there are lot of chances to see many monkeys’ species of Nyungwe but also it gives you a unique experience for birding. We will do the canopy of 10AM at Uwinka, 30minutes away from hotel.

Day 6: CHIMPANZEES TRACKING IN NYUNGWE FOREST

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Following breakfast, you’ll go for an early Chimpanzee tracking experience in the forest to look for the closest friends to man. The Forest Ranger will guide you through the various forest trails. This tracking activity takes approximately 3 to 5 hours after which you will return to your lodge for a delicious lunch and then in the afternoon we will drive back to Kigali.
