Day 1: Cape Town

On arriving and enjoying VIP airport assistance you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind, for the first of 5-nights.

Then travel south along the Atlantic’s spectacular coastline before crossing the Peninsula to see a penguin colony at Boulders on the Indian ocean. Day 3: Cape Town

Day 4: Cape Town Waterfront

Stop At: Zeitz MOCAA, South Arm Rd Silo District, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Central 8001 South Africa
Spend the morning at flagship destinations in the V&A Waterfront’s The Silo District. Be shown over Guild, a multi-faceted destination that includes the Southern Guild Gallery that showcases limited-edition African art and design, an in-house studio with its own furniture range, and a concept store.

At Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) see architect Thomas Heatherwick’s repurposing of former grain silo’s into the biggest contemporary art museum in Africa.

On a curator-led tour, discover why it’s one of the most influential museums of African art and its diaspora in the world. Follow with lunch with 360-degree views of the city and Table Mountain.

In the afternoon, enjoy a privileged viewing of one of South Africa’s foremost private collections spanning two centuries, as well as its Contemporary Art Gallery and architecturally astounding Wine Gallery conducted by its dedicated art guide.

In the evening, enjoy a ”Taste Safari – from Cape Town to Timbuktu”, interspersed with live entertainment that celebrates the energy of Pan Africa with hand crafted puppets from Mali and Xhosa and Congolese dancers and singers.

Day 5: Cape Town - Woodstock

Gain some fascinating insights into the life and times South Africa’s foremost Expressionist and top selling artist, while being shown over her former home / studio and now eclectic museum.

Woodstock is a fast gentrifying precinct, likened to New York’s Meatpacking district, with the highest concentration of design studios and art galleries in the country. Lunch at a crowd–pulling spot in The Old Biscuit Mill and in the afternoon visit a number of cutting edge galleries such as Stevenson, Whatiftheworld, SA Print Gallery, SMAC, Goodman. On your last night in Cape Town eat among the locals, at a hot spot in the city.

Day 6: The Winelands

Stop At: Franschhoek Pass, Regional road Tra (between) Franschhoek - Villiersdorp, Franschhoek 7690 South Africa
Head out to the Winelands with its abundance of unique Cape Dutch architecture, historic homesteads and über-chic contemporary estates set in a region of rolling vineyards and soaring peaks. At the country’s premier wine estate, stroll around the spacious grounds and gracious manor house. Lunch from a spectacular eyrie at the top of the Helshoogte mountain pass. Follow with a guided walk around Delaire Graff’s sculpture-filled gardens, art-clad walls and shop, where museum quality investment pieces rub shoulders with dazzling cutting edge urban design.

Once in Franschhoek and settled into your centrally located hotel for the first of 2-nights, you can venture forth independently to explore the picturesque village, before dining in SA’s ‘’culinary capital”.

Day 7: The Winelands

In the morning, enjoy a curated visit to Stellenbosch’s Rupert Museum, one of South Africa’s significant private art collections. Lunch among the vines. In the afternoon, be enchanted by a private gem - a guided walkabout of sculptor Dylan Lewis’ indigenous garden and studio, where upwards of sixty of his highly acclaimed works depicting various stages of his career are thoughtfully located on mountain slopes. Later, wander around the town of Stellenbosch, glimpsing some Cape Dutch architectural gems among the university town’s oak-lined streets, popping into shop and galleries before ending with dinner in historic Dorp Street.

Day 8: Johannesburg

Morning is open to explore Franschhoek’s many galleries and appealing shops at your leisure.

Be shown around Babylonstoren’s beguiling garden based on the Dutch East India Company’s landscape layout that replenished passing ships with fresh food, which now produces over 300 edible plants and local specialities. Lunch here, before taking an afternoon flight to Johannesburg (two hours) where you’ll stay at for 3-nights.

Dinner is at the hotel, with welcoming hotel staff on hand to whip up something delicious.

Day 9: Johannesburg - Artists, galleries and regenerated precincts

Stop At: 286 Fox Street, Maboneng Precinct City & Suburban, Johannesburg 2094 South Africa
Spend the morning at Maboneng, a multicultural, urban regeneration precinct. Go on a behind-the-scenes walkabout of its SoHo-inspired work spaces, vibrant street murals, artists’ studios, creative venues and retail clusters that fuse contemporary architecture with historic city buildings.

Arts on Main is the hub of this complex of early 1900 warehouses that includes the studios of William Kentridge and art entrepreneur David Krut. Lunch in its tree-filled courtyard with some of the creative residents.

In the afternoon hit the fashionable Rosebank district for a series of gallery tours: Goodman – a distinguished modern art gallery, Everard Read – the oldest gallery representing national and international artists, and take in the city’s skyline from the deck of its adjacent striking gallery – Circa. End the day at a treasure trove filled with hand crafted objects from all over Africa – Kim Sacks Gallery, enjoying a private dinner here with the owner.

Day 10: Johannesburg - Sculptural gardens and human origins

Stop At: Nirox Sculpture Park, 23 Kromdraai Road 2kms from R563 turn-off & 1km from R374 turn-off, Krugersdorp 1739 South Africa
In the morning Origins Centre tells the story of the origins of humankind and our journey out of Africa, as well as diverse Southern African rock art traditions of the San / Bushmen (the world’s oldest continuous art form). Notable display is ”the” ground-breaking artefact that dates man’s design thinking origins back some 100,0000 years.

In the afternoon take in the tranquillity of Nirox’s landscaped grounds while being shown around art and sculpture in thoughtful and unexpected places, in this symbolic landscape where 3.5 million years of human activity have taken place. Nirox Sculpture Park & Residency is located in the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where forty percent of the world’s human ancestors have been found. Enjoy sunset and watch the Southern Cross emerge over a celebratory private dinner here with select guests.

Day 11: Johannesburg - Constitutional Hill and urban renewal project

Stop At: 11 Kotze Street Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct, Johannesburg 2001 South Africa
Visit Constitutional Hill, a National Heritage Site in the inner city, located on what was the country’s most notorious prison complex, to contextualize the country’s turbulent past and its transition to democracy. The architectural brief for the re-purposing of this complex was to convey the justice and openness of SA’s constitution. The adjacent Constitutional Court (the highest in the land) houses a collection of art works with a human rights theme by eminent South Africans that tells this story with a different lens and weaves multiple threads together. A fitting end to your journey of creative discovery.
