Historical Working Farm (Boschendal and Babylonstoren)

Travel through to the middle of the wine producing region passing the historical town of “Pniel” named by the Dutch when they established a mission station here, to one of the oldest wine producing farms in South Africa Boschendal. 

Collect your mountain-bike at the operators desk and choose from short to medium trails depending on fitness.  Pass the Angus cattle, and brush past the local fauna and flora. Enjoy an opportunity for lunch filled with fresh produce.

Take a tour through the acclaimed “Werf" garden that provides seasonal produce, that could be found in the bistro or on the plates prepared by Boschendal’s head chef in the acclaimed “Werf” restaurant.  Hereafter enjoy a wine paring from some of the farms unique labels.

Thereafter visit another leading farm at Babylonstoren showcasing its unique garden based on the "VOC" or Company's Garden.

• Travel to Boschendal passing through the town of Pniel

10.00 - 11.30 am 
• At Boschendal collect your mountain-bike from the operators kiosk and choose from various trails depending on fitness

12.00 - 13.00 
• An opportunity for lunch is provided at the Deli or Werf restaurant

13.30 - 14.30 
• Enjoy a private tour of the "Werf" garden, and learn about the unique relationships of plants and animals that contribute to its success, as well as the historical significance the farm played over centuries

15.00 - 15.45 
• Enjoy a wine paring of the wine farms unique labels

16.15 - 17.00 
• Visit Babylonstoren a unique farm that has taken its idea from the historical "Companies Garden", learn how this garden changed the world as we know it
