It is an ancient Buddhist temple in Tissamaharama, Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It was one of the four major Buddhist monasteries. It believes that this vihara has been made by Lord Buddha himself with 500 other individuals who reached enlightenment.

Stop At: Kirinda Vihara Maha Devi Temple, Kirinda, Sri Lanka

It is a temple which is built as a tribute to princess Viharamaha Devi’s bravery. The temple provides magnificent views of the sand dunes, the Kirinda fishing harbour and the Indian Ocean.

It is an ancient stupa which dates back to 06th century B.C and is believed that this has been built in the ground where Lord Buddha meditated.
