Wilpattu- A Naturalist Guided Tour

Private guided safari experience with a naturalist who is very experienced and with years of experience in the wilds giving a unique in depth insight into the natural world. You will learn about the park, its ecology, plant-life, animal life and many other interesting little known details to enhance your safari experience. Learn to read the tracks on the sandy paths and track down the elusive leopard and many other unique species found in Wilpattu.

Itinerary

Day 1: Wilpattu

Stop At: Wilpattu National Park, Wilpattu National Park, North Western Province
Your naturalist guide will pick you up from the main road in a safari jeep and escort you to your safari camp. After a warm welcome you will check into your tents and proceed to the dining tent for lunch. After lunch hop on the jeep and head to the park entrance to begin your first game drive into Wilpattu. Popularly dubbed as ‘the land of the lakes’, Wilpattu National Park is famous for watching wildlife within its picturesque villus and dry evergreen forests. It is Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest national park which re-opened in 2010 after being closed for nearly three decades due to the civil war. Wilpattu is one of the top spots in Sri Lanka for watching Leopard and Sloth Bear. Other larger animals seen regularly here include Elephant, Jackal, Mugger Crocodile, Sambar, Spotted Deer and Buffalo are among the larger animals regularly encountered.

Day 2: Wilpattu Full Day Safari

Stop At: Wilpattu National Park, Wilpattu National Park, North Western Province
Early morning set off to the park with packed breakfast and lunch for your full day game drive. The longer you spend in the park the better the chances are for sightings of many of the elusive denizens including the iconic Leopard, Sloth Bear and Elephant. Your naturalist guide being a seasoned tracker will interpret the different tracks along the sandy paths and work together with the safari driver to get you the best wildlife sightings possible. Breakfast and Lunch will be served inside the park. After dusk return back to your campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Wilpattu Tour End

Pass By: Wilpattu National Park, Wilpattu National Park, North Western Province
Today after breakfast you will checkout from camp and be transferred to the main road where you will bid farewell to your guide and the tour will end.
