Full-Day Scenic XC Downhill Biking at Doi Suthep National Park in Chiang Mai

The motivated beginner through intermediate mountain biker will enjoy traversing and climbing along the remote mountain tops of the National Park. We enjoy this scenic ride with rewarding downhill sections into the Mae Ping Valley arriving at Lake Huay Tueng Tao .

A 4-wheel drive transportation will take you to the top of Doi Pui Mountain 5400 feet (1646m) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching, you will get prepare your bikes and ready to ride down to the coffee plantation. This first part of the trip helps you to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill bike trip even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques.

After the coffee break at the Plantation we keep riding downhill until reach our route west into the next valley. Fantastic forest riding with great views from open plantations, as you pass refreshing mountain creeks.

With only short steep up hills we wind our way across the valley, past small farm houses while witnessing the local hill tribes in their natural environment. Then we ride further downhill between plantations and forest with beautiful pine trees changing to eucalyptus growth on the way down to the Mae Ping Valley floor. The rarely used forest road presents the rider with plenty of challenges.

This forest road is hardly traveled and is perfect for mountain biking, allowing speed, but challenging your riding abilities. This is very secluded riding and you will feel deep appreciation for the local ecology.

Arriving at Lake Huay Tueng Tao we are expected at our favorite restaurant right at the lake where everyone meets up again. After a good lunch, drink and a taste of the local fruit we will travel back to the city the lazy way by truck and good memories.
