From Chiang Mai, join us for a great mountain biking adventure, discovering small hill tribes villages and witnessing authentic rural life of North Thailand. Chiang Dao valley reveals scenic views of Thailand’s third highest peak. Enjoy a rich cultural experience through this rewarding overnight trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: CHIANG MAI TO CHIANG DAO (cycling distance 30 to 45 km/ 18 to 28 miles)

Stop At: Wat Tham Chiang Dao Temple, Chiang Dao Subdistrict, Chiang Dao Thailand
Meeting with the tour guide at your Chiang Mai hotel and drive north to the Chiang Dao valley, our starting point. After a short briefing and bike fitting, we start pedaling on easy dirt trails, eventually joining the valley. Continue through the local market for a short stop before riding on paved roads to the Chiang Dao caves. Along the ride, the sight of the imposing Doi Luang Chiang Dao, the country's third tallest mountain, will be our background.

Lunch at local restaurant. Arrive at the Chiang Dao caves, for some exploration. We will ride back on another trail, or transfer by vehicle to the Padeng Lodge for overnight. Enjoy a succulent dinner served at the lodge.

Day 2: CHIANG DAO CYCLING DAY (cycling distance 30 to 50 km cycling / 19 to 31 miles)

Stop At: Padeng Lodge & Camp, Ban Pangdeng, Chiang Dao, อำเภอเชียงดาว Chiang Mai 50170, Thailand

Go for an exciting morning ride through more scenic landscape! We ride forest and jungle trails as well as local farming.

Explore trails linking hill tribe villages. Visit Lahu and Akha villages, as well as the Palaung people from Myanmar, with only a few settlements in northern Thailand. After lunch, ride a mix of dirt trails and paved roads. Cycle back to the Lodge for clean up, shower and relax before an overland transfer back to Chiang Mai (1 1/2 hour). Drop off at your hotel in the city.
