12 days Ultimate Uganda safari

This 12 days Uganda Safari takes you through Uganda’s history, culture, tradition, wildlife apes and landscape. This lifetime adventure takes you to Murchison Falls, Bwindi Impenetrable national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, and Kibale Primates forest. This Uganda safari has activities like game viewing safari, Gorilla tracking, chimpanzee tracking, ultimate cultural encounters, and bird watching.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe and Transfer to Kampala

Stop At: Kampala Fair, 25 Bukoto Street (next to Alliance Française), Kampala Uganda
Upon arrival at the airport you will be met by representative from Steadfast safaris. He will pick you from the airport and drive you to your lodge. There, you will relax, have dinner and prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls, Rhino Trekking, Pineapple Farms

Stop At: Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls P.O.Box 455, Masindi Uganda
After breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel and set off for the incredible journey to Murchison falls at 7:00 am. It will take you about 6 hours driving through Masindi. Located halfway between Kampala and Murchison Falls National Park, the drive to the sanctuary usually takes about 2.5 or 3 hours. The drive goes drive through the famous Luweero triangle remembered for the brutal massacres during the Bush war that brought the ruling government into power in 1986. Luweero is our usual stopover point for the purchase of fresh fruits especially pineapples, for the day before reaching Nakasongola. Nakasongola is part of the country's cattle corridor and during the drive through, you are able to view cattle grazing the short grasses in open deciduous savannah woodlands.

You will have a few stopovers for stretching. Your first big stop will be at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an incredible Rhino Trekking Tour. In Uganda, you can only spot the Rhinoceros at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a land expanse of 7,000 hectares with Savannah and wooden vegetation species.

Other than the rhinos, the sanctuary is home to a variety of animal, bird and reptile species. Animals that can be spotted at the sanctuary include the kobs, warthogs, monkeys, hippos, waterbucks, and many more. The sanctuary boasts of harboring 350 bird species including Africa's most sought-after bird, the Shoebill stork, among others.

On arrival at the sanctuary, you are briefed about the sanctuary and the Rhino tracking activity with the dos and don'ts. Tracking usually takes 2 hours and after you continue for lunch either at Kabalega Diners or straight to the park for relaxation and overnight

Day 3: Murchison Falls Game drive, boat cruise, and Hike to top of the falls

Stop At: Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls P.O.Box 455, Masindi Uganda
You will have an early breakfast and then head out for a great game drive. The game drive takes about 2- 4 hours.

During the game drive, you will see wildlife species like the giraffes, lions, elephants, buffaloes and so many other animals.

You will then return to your hotel for relation and lunch. You will then head out for a boat cruise on the Albert Nile. It starts at exactly 2:00 pm and lasts for about 2 hours.

The boat cruise gives you an up-close encounter with several water animals like crocodiles, hippopotamuses, and birds. The cruise leads you to the bottom of the falls which is the best starting point for the hike to the top of the falls that takes about 1 hour. After the walk on the thunderous rift valley wall and a view of the world's strongest waterfalls, you will meet your driver waiting to drive you back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Hoima, See Albertine Rift Valley and visit Bunyoro Kitara kingdom

Stop At: Hoima Central Market, Kyenjojo - Hoima Rd, Hoima, Uganda
Transfer to Hoima early morning and view the beautiful scenery of the Albertine Rift Valley. The great valley stretches from the Red Sea to the northern lands of Malawi. This rift valley, commonly known as the East African Rift Valley, is considered to be one of those geographical wonders that have ever shaped the continental lands of Africa. You will have a chance to view the western arm of this East African rift valley commonly referred to as the Albertine Rift. The Albertine rift derives its name from the long stretching Lake Albert that marks the northern tip of this natural feature. It is a great landscape that has seen many of the Uganda Safari tourists consider a Safari tour to Uganda.

On reaching Hoima, you get to visit the Hoima Royal Palace, which is the seat of the Omukama (King) of Bunyoro His Royal Highness Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I. The palace has many interesting Sceneries with the most fascinating being the throne room that has a traditional nine-legged throne swathed in leopard skins and bark cloth, spears, royal, and musical instruments are on display. Spend an evening in Hoima, Relax and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale, Chimp tracking and Cultural Trail

Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kasese Uganda
After an early morning breakfast, the guide will transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park, situated in Western Uganda, near the town of Fort Portal, and is famed for its chimpanzees. You will then do Chimp tracking in this forest. Kibale National Park has the highest number of primate species in the world which include chimpanzees approximately 5000 chimpanzees live in Kibale Forest. With the guidance of an experienced ranger, we will be able to see the chimps and other monkey species. You will then head to the lodge for lunch. After which you’ll go to Bigodi for a Swamp walk that lasts for about 2 - 3 hours. This will take us through the grasslands, small communities, and some beautiful scenery. We'll also be able to see a wide range of birds and primates.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lion experience in Ishasha Sector

Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, 410 kilometers from Kampala, Kasese Uganda
The driver will pick you after morning breakfast and transfer you to your next destination - Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is located in the South Western part of Uganda. You will see some of the areas overlooking the rift valley before you reach Queen Elizabeth National Park with the unfolding beautiful panoramic view of Lakes Edward and George. Check in the hotel for lunch and after, go for an evening game drive in the Ishasha sector. There, you will have a high chance of seeing the famous tree climbing lions of Ishasha and other

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi, relax at the lodge

Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma Kanungu and Kisoro, Kabale Uganda
After breakfast, continue with the safari as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through incredible views of Ugandan’s amazing landscape from flat savanna, via cultivated hills to jungle-covered mountains. Enjoy a nature walk and mix with the locals or relax with the Orphans group performers. Then relax for the rest of the day as you prepare for the next big day of Gorilla Tracking.

Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

Stop At: Bwindi Inpenetrable Forest, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda
The day will start with an early morning breakfast at the lodge, followed by a drive to the park headquarters by the guide. This will depend on the selected region out of the four major gorilla regions of Bwindi that is Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. The Park Rangers will debrief you about gorilla tracking rules - what to do and what not to do while in this park. The Rangers will go ahead to divide you into groups of 8. The activity of trekking these gentle giants will kick off, with a guide of the rangers into the forest. This will be a great, memorable and amazing experience watching the Mountain gorillas in their natural habitats as they feed, play and also do their day to day activities. The gorilla tracking activity time can vary from 2 hrs to 8 hours since it depends on the current location and movement of the gorillas. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will have a maximum of one hour with them as you admire and take photos.

Day 9: Batwa Experience and transfer to Bunyonyi

Stop At: Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort, Kabale-Kachwekano, Uganda
After breakfast, have a chance to spend the morning with the Batwa that gives you the opportunity to enjoy a hike in the forest with the people of the forest. You will have a Batwa guide and he will provide you with the chance to see the forest and its habitats through their eyes. See how they lived and hunted in the traditional manner. Enjoy trying out your hunting techniques as the Batwa teach you how to shoot with a bow and arrow. Visit a traditional Batwa homestead and learn from the women how to prepare, cook and serve a meal. You will also have the opportunity to sample the dishes. Talk to a medicine man and learn about the medicinal properties of the forest flora. Hear ancient legends and traditional songs. Drive to Bunyonyi for the overnight.

Day 10: Boat Cruise at Bunyonyi and cultural experience

Stop At: Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort, Unnamed Road, Uganda
Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge in Bunyonyi. Later, go for a canoe ride on Africa’s second deepest lake and one of the most beautiful lakes in Uganda. It is also safe to swim as it is bilharzia free. The cruise will then go across the lake. Here, you will explore the shores of Lake Bunyonyi by walking through the villages and meeting the local communities or the different school projects. Nature and culture are quite untouched there, so get ready for a deep Uganda experience. Dinner and overnight in Bunyonyi,

Day 11: Transfer to Igongo Cultural Center, have a feel of the Kinyankole Culture and hike to the 1520AD Eclipse monument

Stop At: Igongo Cultural Centre, 16 Km Mbarara-Masaka Road, Mbarara Uganda
Arise to an early breakfast as you enjoy the tranquil surroundings of Lake Bunyonyi. After breakfast, you shall check out of the lodge as you transfer to Mbarara - Igongo Cultural Center, passing through the rolling hills of Kabale with amazing terraces. Upon reaching Igongo, have lunch and then visit the Igongo Cultural Museum, which is rich with the Cultural heritage of the Ankole culture. After, hike to the 1520AD Eclipse monument. The Biharwe monument in Mbarara was erected on Biharwe Hill in commemoration of the “Biharwe Eclipse” which was dated by astronomers and historians to have taken place in the year 1520 AD. There is a vast history behind the Monument that will be shared by the guide on the way to the top of the monument. Head back to Igongo, relax, dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Transfer back to Kampala
