A Methyl Methacrylate Lesson
Firstly, Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) affects the liquids only; powders never contain MMA monomer. The FDA ban applies only to the liquid MMA, because only the liquid form of MMA is dangerous.
There has been some confusion about this because many nail powders do contain a solid material called poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA.) Many nail glues and wrap gels also have a small amount of solid PMMA dissolved into them as a thickener. How Safe is Acetone?
Water is the safest solvent in the nail industry. Yes water is a solvent! In fact, water is called the "universal solvent" because it dissolves more things than any other known substance.

| The second safest solvent used in salons is acetone. That's why its sold for this purpose. Oh, there are much faster acting solvents, but they aren't safe enough for salons. Why is acetone so safe? Allantoin (Comfrey Root) - A natural healing agent for skin which has the ability to treat minor wounds and skin irritations, and to stimulate the growth of new skin cells.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids - Fruit acids obtained from sugar cane, citrus fruits, and apples. These specialized acids are used as an effective exfoliant which also stimulates cell renewal resulting in improved skin texture accompanied by a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. Levels of around 5% are less irritating to the skin and considered safer than formulas containing 10% and above. |

Liposomes - Hollow microscopic spheres formed from phospholipids, such as Lecithin, and filled with an active ingredient.
