Staying at home to work may have immediate appeal to self-motivated teleworkers, as visions of hassle-free, dressed-down, low-interruption workdays come to mind, but lots will find the realities of telecommuting a bit less satisfying.

The innate need for social interaction may be suprising. Being able to be alone with one's thoughts and computer has immense appeal to a few, but it may take some deep analyzing for the rest of us.

• We hate to give out this secret of ours for fear of embarrassment, but our favorite motivator is to crank up those great old 80's tunes, forcing a short break every time the lyrics take us over. Not a bad work environment for some, but quite possibly a nightmare for others?!!?



• But still, yes, keep that radio on in the background unless focus is seriously hampered.



• Take lots of short breaks...you might find working at home to be much more productive after your day is done!



• Get OUT!... of the house to network with other professionals. Try workshops, professional association meetings, home business classes, health clubs, entrepreneur conferences and seminars, or just walking the dog in your local 'Dog Park'.



• Arrange the sporatic visit to a main office or meeting place; taking time for face-to-face meetings with your colleagues.



• And of course, do some physical things you enjoy. Intense workouts to brisk walks to working the weeds in your garden are some productive favorites.



• Keeping all this in mind, your work at home experience can be every bit as rewarding as you dreamed.
