Hiking tour of South Albania in four days

This four days hiking tour program is properly tailored for explorers that are passionate in hiking, who love wild nature and lovely hidden pebble bays. During this tour we will hike at the highest peak of South Albania (Mount Çika), trek through the ancient path named the “Cesar Trail” and discover the hidden Grama Bay.

Day 1

Our professional tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Tirana or Tirana Airport. Right after the group gets together we start our journey toward Sothern Albania. On our way to Llogara National Park we will visit the ancient ruins of Apollonia, its Odeon Theatre, the Church of Saint Mary, the ancient statues of Illyrian times and the mosaic. Our tour continues towards Vlora where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas meet. Free afternoon at Llogara National Park.

Day 2

We start our hiking adventure early in the morning. Our objective is summiting the top of Mount Çika, the highest peak of South-western Albania. The hike during this day would be an intense one, requiring a good physical condition and proper hiking outfit, however, the view from the top is a breath-taking corner of the world. Our day would be characterised by imposing mountain peaks blanketed in deep green forests, crystal clear seas fringed by long white beaches inviting you to dive in. After a panoramic picnic lunch we had back to Llogara National Park.

Day 3

We will wake up, early in the morning, with an innate sense of wonder and desire to explore more. Our destination will be Grama Bay, considered by many a hidden gem of Albania. To reach this hidden beach (only reachable by approximately 8 hours hiking or by boat) we will walk through an ancient path, used by emperor Cesar during the Roman times. The “Cesar Path” passes through top of Karaburun Peninsula reaching from 800m up to 1240m altitudes, where we start our descending trekking to Grama Bay. This is where things get interesting; we will set up a tent camp (equipment’s will be brought to bay with a boat), light up a fire by the beach, wait for the sunset, count the stars and taste wild seafood grilled on the fire.

Day 4

There is no better feeling than waking up from the sound of calm waves hitting the shore. After breakfast with a seaside view, we enjoy a final swim in the crystal clear waters of Grama Bay. We pack up our tents and get ready to explore the rest of Karaburun Peninsula by boat. We will discover empty beaches, isolated old churches and hidden caves used by pirates back in the days. Our boat will stop us Palasa beach where the vehicle will be waiting for us. We will enjoy a traditional lunch with a panoramic view of the Albanian Riviera from the “balcony” of Llogara. We arrive in Tirana in late afternoon.
