This tour through the Patagonia Argentina of 7 days includes a tour of the Atlantic and Austral Patagonia. Start at Puerto Pirámides, the paradise land of whales and penguins. An ideal place to visit the variety of fauna and flora, the Patagonian steppes and its desert landscape by the sea. The trip continues to El Calafate: home of the wonderful Perito Moreno Glacier. This tour includes a 4x4 tour that will allow you to enjoy unique views of Lake Argentino and the visit to ancient estancias where you will enjoy an Argentine "Gaucho" barbecue. Finally, you will arrive at El Chaltén, known as "the people of trekking", ideal for lovers of this activity, to make walks of different difficulties on your own.

Itinerary

Day 1: Flight to Trelew and transfer to Puerto Pirámides

Stop At: Puerto Piramides 9121 Argentina
You will leave the capital on a flight to Trelew, you will be transferred to Puerto Pirámides (2hs approx.), in the heart of the Valdés Peninsula. On the road you will enjoy the landscapes: steppes with impressive desert landscapes. After approximately 2 hours of travel, you will arrive at your accommodation, a charming inn located 150 meters from the beach. Afternoon and free night to rest and walk around Puerto Pirámides.

Day 2: Whales watching navigation & Peninsula Valdés Tour

Stop At: Peninsula Valdes, Puerto Madryn Argentina
In the morning (depending on the weather conditions), you will take a group navigation for an observation excursion of southern right whales, which you will be able to see swimming in the waters of the Valdés Peninsula (between June and December). The captain and his crew will tell you about the coast, its ecosystem and the natural life cycle of these giant marine mammals.

After lunch (not included), you will discover another part of the Peninsula Valdes where you can see some penguins, sea lions and seals. You can also visit the Interpretation Center and at the end of the day, you will return to Puerto Madryn, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Flight from Trelew to El Calafate and transfer to the hotel

Stop At: El Calafate Airport, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina
After breakfast, transfer from your hotel in Puerto Madryn to the airport in Trelew (60km) for a flight to El Calafate. Arrival, and tansfer to the hotel in town.

Day 4: Visit to a local Estancia & Navigation to the Perito Moreno Glacier

Stop At: Perito Moreno Glacier, Los Glaciares National Park Argentina
You'll have an early start today for drive across the old estancias road on a small-group excursion. The guide will explain you about the rural life of the Patagonian farms and the indigenous influence. Then, you will arrive to the Estancia and enjoy a typical barbecue with the best wines of the country (included)

After lunch, we´ll navigate the South and Rico arms of Lake Argentino and disembark at Las Monedas beach for a walk in the wood (low level of difficulty). After sailing again you will reach the Perito Moreno Glacier. It is an enormous ice mass covering a 250 square km area and is one of the most wonderful glaciers in the world.

It is easy to approach the front of the glacier by walking along the footbridges (free time, around 2 hours)

Return to El Calafate during the evening by minibus.

Day 5: On the route from El Calafate to El Chaltén

Stop At: San Martín, El Chalten, Santa Cruz, Argentina
In the morning, take a local bus (3,5 hours approx.) to the National Capital of Trekking in Argentina: El Chaltén.

You can take the self-guided path to Mount Torre viewpoint. There are two path headers that start from El Chaltén. You will find a sign with a sketch of the route with times, distances and recommendations for you to take into account before continuing.

Day 6: Welcome to El Chaltén: The village of trekking

Stop At: San Martín, El Chalten, Santa Cruz, Argentina
Free day to explore the area on your own. We suggest Laguna de los Tres path from where you will be closer to Mount Fitz Roy. This path has a moderate level of difficulty, around 10 hours.

Another options are also possible, depending on traveler’s preferences.

Day 7: End of the trip. El Chaltén to El Calafate

Pass By: El Calafate Airport, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina
After your breakfast you will go to the local bus and then to the airport in El Calafate (3,5 hours approx.) to catch your flight.
